Yeah, I wouldn't try Starlight 2+ handed normally. They are complicated enough I think 1 spirit is best :)

The event that has you push invaders off of lands with Beasts didn't say "you may" or "up to", it just said Push, which means you were required to make those Pushes even though they were bad for your plans.

Starlight isn't the most complex, that distinction goes to either Fractured Days Split the Sky or Finder of Paths Unseen. Both of those make my brain hurt, lol.

I really felt like Finder was just making the game easier since you can almost forget range exists :P Pairs incredibly well with Volcano, Lure or Ocean ! Fractured Days tho... I tried him only once for now but that was a very painful attempt.

At 43:00 you are supposed to put explorers in wetlands land 8 of grinning trickster board, since you just built a town in an adjacent sand. But either way, nice playthrough 😊

Great video! However, I think at 21:28, the explorer should not be taken out; the strife doesn't function like a defend, it prevents the ravage from happening, so the Dahan wouldn't attack.

Actually, this isn't correct. On page 7 of the Jagged Earth rulebook, they spend a while on this topic. The rules say that Strife reduces an invader's damage to 0 (including boosted damage), BUT they still count as ravaging. It even specifies in the rules that Dahan fight back if everyone has Strife. Didn't help me much here though, did it? :)

@@OneStopCoopShop nope, it always was so. In Branch and Claws they also mentioned that Dahan fight back after Invaders do any amount of damage during ravage, even if the amount is "0". They don't fight back if invaders for some reason skip the ravage phase / don't attack at all.

With an event causing damage to Dahan are you allowed to distribute that damage how you want? Since the invaders are not attacking Dahan? Or do you have to still destroy most effectively?

At 43 minutes (round 5) Why don’t you place any explorers in island 8 on the top board even though there is a town (adjacent to it) in island 6 on the top board?

My brother and I got our copies in last week and actually played the exact same spirits and adversary for our first game. Was a ton of fun, absolutely love how different all these spirits feel. Our game went really smoothly with my Starlight getting several really strong beast focused major powers I could cycle. Felt good hunting down all the poachers.

Good play through but it felt very rushed with the editing. I thinks it’s great you explain your thinking but then we don’t have time to process this with the quick cuts, although I appreciate it would be a 90 min + video otherwise. Also that blighted island card was add 2 cities to a land with minimum one town/city which would have drastically changed the end of the game (no blight/cascade from ravage, still have sacred site, prolonged it at least an extra turn)

Wow, you are right about the card. I totally missed the “min 1”, so read “fewest” as “0”, and yeah that would have made an insane difference, with my major power actually going off. Great catch!

They have the new stuff for JE (new token type, still healthy cards) But I think the only rule change going backward is no first event

In jagged earth, trigger actions cannot trigger themself Like in the case of major power, vengeance of the dead

I actually believe you are still supposed to draw the first event (for France purposes) but just ignore it.

Curious as to how long was your actual gameplay in total? I understand in these videos there are portions that are edited for good reason. I also play solo but with two spirits but don't finish a game by the time I have pack everything up and go to bed lol. And I can't leave the game out because the kids would ravage it (pun intended)

Unedited this game took 5 hours and 25 minutes ha! But that is time included with thinking and re-saying stuff cause at 2:30 in the morning I was making 0 sense! I get you on the leaving it up! I am fortunate to have a spot I can keep games up. There would be little chance to play these types of games otherwise! Thanks for watching!
