Thanks Mike! I think you sold me on this one. I originally blew past it because there was something about the general look that struck me as odd. But now that I watched you play it, it's grown on me. A pretty engrossing strategic fantasy game that has lots of variety and crunchy detail. Thanks for doing this!

I'm really a big fan of dice building in games, and I love how decisive the rolls are. No wound counters, just straight knocking each other out based on results. Seems like a great choice for a grander strategy game like this.

Mike, I'm wondering how much skill there is in this game. As I replay it, will I be able to play better and better as I come to understand the game? Thanks, - toby
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
I haven't received my pledge yet (I know they are getting close), so this is just based on my plays back when. But with that said, I think there is certainly skill in how you build your armies, spend your resources, advance your leaders, etc. But there's also a lot of luck in combat, card draws, and all of that. I'd compare it to most 4x games with a luck element, like Clash of Cultures for example. The better player will do better, even in how they react to bad runs of luck. But certainly if you never roll a hit for any of your units you will lose ;)

How does this game feel (balance-wise) with two players? And does it scale harder or easier with more players? Edit: I just finished the whole play through and I noticed this game has a lot times where you are making decisions for the A.I. Doesn't this make it "gamey"? Seems like you can just purposely make poor decisions for the A.I to make it easier on yourself.
@OneStopCoopShop4 жыл бұрын
Great with two players, though tough. Balance seemed good across counts. With 3 or 4 it was more likely one player would get crushed in a round, but there were also more players to help the player bounce back.

Wouldnt the empress have destroyed this undefended haven? She moves towards her target, but even then if it would be a priority issue: Priority A would be the haven with least enemy units (it has none) and the empty hex is priority C, even after a hex with enemy units (b). Also I think she forgot to put a garrison down!

I'm a big fan of 4X games. And the idea of a 4X cooperative game is extremely interesting. I will say though, I'm a bit put off by a couple of things. First of all the game seems too short for a 4X game. Enemies activating 4 times over the entire course of the game just feels too few. And I know you mentioned the easiest difficulty, but this seemed like a complete steamroll. Like I cannot understand how it is even minorly difficult - you steam rolled the enemies, massively outclassed on victory points, etc.
@OneStopCoopShop4 жыл бұрын
To be clear, this was only half a game. You are supposed to play two more full rounds. I was just trying to show the heart of gameplay in under an hour :)
@Izathel14 жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop I get that, and I do appreciate seeing the introduction to the game. But it seems like, in general, you have four activations per enemy thing (yes, sometimes they get bonuses) and yet the players can expand at an incredible rate (between combat being relatively easy and the requirements for building being pretty low). It just doesn't seem as "epic" as what I tend to expect from a 4X game (like TI4 or Space Empires 4x, etc.). But I will for sure look at the Kickstarter when it is launched. If the game ends up with either changes or stretch goals that make it feel more "epic" I'll likely be a backer.
@OneStopCoopShop4 жыл бұрын
@@Izathel1 since I was playing on an easier difficulty, I was able to keep the big armies in check, but if you let them continue to grow they can get terribly powerful. Also, the 3rd and 4th event cards tend to spawn 3 or even 4 big armies. And, a final note, in the 4th round all bosses double activate. So it gets pretty crazy :)

Great play-overview and game-play!! This one definitely isn't of interest after watching. It seems very fiddly and the iconography / graphic design is bothersome for me ... and elephants are food?!? What? Why?!?!
@pawelmazur83184 жыл бұрын
Of course they're food! In the frozen north at the end of the world the only thing left alive are the Koloth, giant Mamoth like animals that roam the frozen wastes! We've tried to reduce the fiddliness to an absolute minimum in this game and if I may say so myself, we've mostly succeeded! Maybe we can convince you after you see some more playthroughs? :)
@Sl1vers4 жыл бұрын
Pawel Mazur Nope on the Elephants as food ...sorry, but no matter how you thematically explain it 1) It is iconography problematic and 2) Just looks stupid for me and all three people in my game group who watched the video from the couch with me. We will definitely take a look at the Kickstarter but will be an uphill climb to change our minds

Sorry if I made the game look fiddly. It runs smoothly after a play or two. I wasn't bothered by the iconography. And who am I to judge the wildlife of a fantasy world? Maybe there are giant, delicious cow-like elephants strolling around everywhere :)
