In my country we don't have such stores. I try and hunt cheap boardgames for the components etc.

Awesome video! I'd love to see an entire process, maybe a game-jam? something like a series of videos in which you make a board game completely on your own in a small amount of time, until you have something playable and maybe even somewhat functional or fun.

Thanks for the feedback David! We actually had the same idea. This format was really fun so we're hoping to do more vlog-type stuff in the future.

One Thousand XP Awesome, I'm looking forward to it! Maybe you could host a game jam like Ludum Dare, but with only boardgame entries down the line too

That would be really fun.

My thoughts exactly. Great video. I'm specifically looking for how to make prototype components worthy of Kickstarter. I've got the 2D graphics, and the game design, and I'm working on 3D modeling for for the fancy figures - but I'm clueless as to how the game designers on Kickstarter actually make their prototype sets. In fact, if you guys could even share some links if you know of info along those lines, it would be much appreciated.

Omg! I live right down the street from that Around the Table Gamer Pub! Crazy to see that in here ^___^ and even nicer to see more local game developers. Cheers, Seattle crew!

IRL! My friend and I hit up 15 thrift stores in one day yesterday for board games. It's a monthly tradition. Keep up the good work.

Survive!, Nightmare, DragonStrike, Harry Potter Adventures Through Hogwarts, multiple Forbidden Island, Qwirkle, Clue, Risk, etc etc. What have you guys scored lately?
@onethousandxp7 жыл бұрын
DragonStrike?! Awesome! I never find good stuff, mostly bits haha

haha Too bad! Going often to a few with consistent board games helps. Or planning one day a month and hitting as many as possible. Next month I am planning a major operation with a whole new set of thrift stores. Hopefully that yields good results.

Oh and thanks to this video I am looking at games I would of passed on before differently and scrounging for prototype parts. Your videos have given me numerous helpful tips and confirmed many things we were already doing on our own. Keep it up!

I went to Lowe's and bought wall/floor hexigon tiles of various sizes, it's awesome because I was prototyping with a cardboard board and it did not help the mood lol the small hexigons items

Loved this video! I also hunt for prototyping components in old games from thrift stores. Found a cheap game today with lots of coins in it. :)

I have been working on a board game design for a little while now and have found all of your videos veery useful. I am also in the Seattle area and wonder if you guys ever host any meetups or educational lectures on board game design?

Cool You guys showed some places - unfortunatly many people on web do not have any stores like these around - I would personally find what kind of items you actually pick and what items work well with prototyping for you, more interesting. Thanks for sharing & I'm looking forward to new designer - mechanics' tips and tricks :D Cheers!
