Fun Fact: Tarot Cards were originally just playing cards. They have their own suits and there are numbered cards. Cards like "the Wheel" and "the hanged man" are basically like face cards. I think. The suits are if I remember: Swords, Cups, Coins and Wands.

@@4akrosslastname764 I've only ever seen pentacles in modern decks too, but they were originally coins in older decks. And the face cards didn't exist until sometime during the late 17th/early 18th c. when people decided to use the cards that had been the coolest new thing back in the Renaissance (for a game named Tarroc...) to do some light, whimsical fortune telling. Some of those old decks were mass printed, then colour was added by hand-painting, and they're stunning! Can you imagine a tipsy game of Tarroc in the gardens of Versailles turning into an impromptu, frivolous fortune telling session? Because I can see it so clearly.

My parents wouldn't allow me to buy tarot cards when I was a kid so I made up my own cartomancy system with modern playing cards... In general, anything that can be used to create random results is fit for both divination and games, and the line between them is not very stark in the first place! Edit: Here it is in case anybody wants it. I call it "Spicy Garland" which i an anagram of "playing cards"... suit meanings ♠stress ♥love ♣knowledge ♦material Face cards (entity)♠enemy ♥dear ♣teacher ♦trade partner (K indicates a male person, male-dominated group, or masculine force of some kind, Q the feminine, and J the gender neutral) 10 (utmost) ♠attack ♥devotion ♣enlightenment ♦abundance 9 (reversal) ♠escape ♥betrayal ♣falsehood ♦theft 8 (pursual) ♠revenge ♥courtship ♣research ♦collecting 7 (usual) ♠exhaustion ♥happiness ♣truth ♦clutter 6 (strange) ♠confusion ♥expression ♣surprise ♦treasure 5 (beauty) ♠destruction ♥craft ♣accomplishment ♦ornament 4 (lengthy) ♠stress ♥contentment ♣growth ♦symbiotic 3 (stable) ♠competition ♥friendship ♣understanding ♦pathways 2 (speed) ♠prejudice ♥admiration ♣testing ♦borrowing A (lack) ♠peace ♥despair ♣ignorance ♦poverty You basically use them the same way you'd use tarot cards (ie in a big spread or to answer simple questions or forecasts, etc) except they like to go in pairs where you'd normally draw one tarot card. For instance if I draw my own cards for a quick forecast, I get 9♦Q♠, "theft" and "female enemy". Now, if it was the other way around, I'd be worried that someone's going to steal from me... But in this case I believe I'm being encouraged to take revenge. Truly spicy.

that is my fear if I "get one" and "i don't like it, I don't feel it. it's not like what other people have, not what I expected" there is nothing wrong with breaking up because of that right? how does one make the lack of satisfaction not look shallow and petty? @@kaiyodei if you're unhappy and it's just not compatiable/you don't see it working long term that's the reason, it's not shallow it saves you wasting both of your time so you can both move on with your lives. Being trapped will cause resentment and it will not help your mental health. So yeah, not shallow or petty better for everyone involved eventually
@DoveJS
@DoveJS Жыл бұрын
@@kaiyodei To add on to what the other person said, obviously you should try to make a relationship work better first if you're still invested in it, but it's better to ask for what you want without framing it as a comparison with anyone else (unless you have to point out that this is a very simple quality of life adjustment, like not leaving dirty laundry everywhere.) You can't force other people to make compromises though and the same is true for yourself; they can't make you change either. That's why it needs to be a conversation focusing on what you want, how you feel, and touching base with what they want too; rinse and repeat as often as necessary. Some things you may just have to agree to disagree on but obviously not a deal breaker; you can't fix being incompatible. And you can always change your mind if you realize something is more important than you initially realized. But after all of that, if you've had discussions about what you're missing in the relationship and this leaves you unhappy and nothing is working, then you're both better off ending it at some point because you'll both become resentful (think of all the terrible jokes from comedians who hate their wives...) You can stay friends with him after the breakup if that's what works but if you're happier not talking to him any more, that's fine too. Things can end amicably even if it still hurts but odds are you simply got complacent with how things were and you'll miss that comfort more than you miss him. It helps if you can decide what's really important to you and find someone who agrees with most of it (but of course everyone is different so you'll never find someone who agrees completely about everything lol. Maybe 70% is a good target? With 80-90% being top tier cohesion but unlikely unless you're very lucky.) The thing is anything that's important to you isn't shallow or petty and even some of the things that seem that way on surface level may run deeper. Like, if he insists that you always do his laundry and he leaves stinking piles everywhere, there could be multiple reasons, one could be depression IDK, but another might be that he just wants a free maid, his mother always did his laundry for him, and he doesn't respect your other obligations. That's a bigger issue right there so talking about it first is good, to bring up what is frustrating, point out how you feel about it, and find out why he's like this and if he'll actually stop because what he says and what he does also matters. If he really is just using you, then that's something you want to recognize and dump him for unless you're okay with that arrangement. Maybe you'd rather be the one doing the laundry but you also don't want to pick it up off the floor, so the compromise could be as simple as asking him to use the hamper. If he agrees and then refuses to actually follow through, it would seem like he doesn't care about keeping his promises or he needs help and while it's always good to give someone a second chance, not everyone deserves a third or fourth chance, depending on what the actual situation is. And if this is the only issue, possibly not worth it? But only you can draw the line in the sand for what you're willing to deal with in a healthy relationship and things that seem shallow can sometimes be indicators of something worse. Just don't ignore any red flags, keep your expectations realistic, talk first, and don't be afraid to quit because there's nothing wrong with removing discomfort from anybody's life, especially your own. ALSO if you're not happy with him, reflecting on any other relationships you've had and looking for patterns could be helpful. Maybe you're dating people you think you should be dating and not the people you actually want to date. This is another reason it's good to decide what's most important; you can weed out what you don't want faster.

Yeah it’s really dependent on the source as the main source for the Greek mythos was a Roman who rewrote it cause he struggled with authority cause he wanted to marry (I think his sister or niece, don’t remember), and was told no. So he ended up writing anti authoritarian rhetoric in the green mythos. Making it almost impossible to tell actual mythology from pure fiction.

Medusa was not cursed by Athena, because Athena is a greek god and in greek mythology, she was born a gorgon (Athena just gave Perseus the means to kill her). Medusa was cursed by Minerva, the roman version of the god, which, while she was adapted by the romans from Athena, is not the same god.

The retelling's I recalled went thusly: Medusa, a beautiful lady with wings called a gorgon, slept with Apollo and in a fit of rage was cursed into ugliness (either by Athena not sure why, Artemis who was Apollo's sister, or Aphrodite out of jealous spite) and when Apollo woke up he was holding ugly snake haired Medusa and stormed off. The power of her ugliness turned men into stone and so she hid herself away. The spider lady was named Arachine and she boasted to her village that she could spin and weave better than Athena who was the patron goddess of the skill. Athena then challenged her to prove her talents and when Arachine failed, she was turned into a spider so that she would always remember the skill that had doomed her.

ATHENA DIDN'T TURN ARACHNE INTO A SPIDER OUT OF JEALOUSY! There are multiple versions of the myth, sure one does exist wherein Athena is jealous of Arachne's skills in weaving tapestry and turns her into the first spider, BUT THE OTHER VERSIONS ARE BETTER! The best of which has Zeus hold a competition between the two, and the loser be disallowed from ever touching a loom again, and Arachne lost. But Athena was so touched by Arachne's entry she decided to turn her into a spider so that Arachne could weave forever. DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES, ATHENA WAS COOL!
@TitaniaBird

There are also versions where Arachne's spider-transformation-provoking sin was weaving a tapestry of Zeus and Poseidon's sexual indiscretions...and presenting it to one of the worst gods (Athena) she could've possibly shown it to. Athena did not particularly want or need to see her father or uncle (respectively) with *anyone*. So, y'know...sacrilege means spider-time.

The version I read as a kid (iirc) said either Arachne states she was the best weaver, even moreso than Athena herself or people were praising her and declared her more skilled than Athena. That pissed Athena off (not so much because she was jealous, but because it was disrespectful), so she went to Zeus who held a competition, and it went the same way you described (took pity on her and made her a spider to keep weaving). I loved this version because it seemed to fit the image I had of Athena (I was 8 and hadn't learned much about the gods/goddesses yet 😂). Now I love this version because it has a happy ending and, let's face it, the Greek pantheon needs more happy endings. Damn. Lol

The version of the myth I remember learning was that after Arachne lost the weaving competition she tried to k*ll herself and Athena turned her into a spider out of sympathy. (Also it should worth noting that a lot of Greek myths were written/rewritten by highly misogynistic Ancient Greek men).

My friend who just finished her bachelor's in psychology was telling me about how there was someone who presented to the psychology board that a very high percentage of women has been SA and a high percentage of it was incestuous. But the old white men on the board hated it and bood them off. So the next year, they come back and say women made it all up and are hysterical, and it's changed the trajectory of psychology. It's absolutely horrendous.

On the QR code thing: sadly, most modern phones ask you if you want to open it before doing so. Your best bet is probably to have it link somewhere enticing that can distract them long enough to forget what they were doing. If it's men you don't want filming you, the hub maybe?

Some QR Scanners have a setting to automatically go to scanned link, though it only works if you specifically have this app opened (and not during filmik). So I think it still has some chance of success. But at the same time, i'd be worried about accidental damage, because people might just get curious about QR code and where it goes to, you wouldn't want them to hit malware, hmpf.

Fun fact regarding sirens. The original greek mythology described them as bird women who stayed on rocks similar to seabirds, but then this got co,bined with other mythological creatures and turned into women with fish tails, with people saying that it was always this way because they were described as having scales but that was actually meant to be the legs since a bird's legs are covered in scales.

The moth and butterfly one got me. I think both are beautiful but I've always loved moths more. During Summer I often get a nightly visit from one because I get up around 2 AM where the sun is still down. If it's hot, I have doors and windows open. I sit in the darkness by my computer, and sometimes a moth lands on my screen. I know, for the light, but I enjoy it so much. Last year I was lucky that one landed on my finger. I don't know why it just sat there and chilled but I took a picture of it and captioned it: "I do the Disney princess thing my own way."

Fun fact: Tarot cards began as a variety of normal playing card, which means in an alternate universe somewhere regular playing cards are used in divination

As a matter of fact, normal playing cards can be used in divination, tarot cards just have the fame to back them up so people accept tarot readings more easily... tarot cards don't have special divination properties, they are just a recognized tool for that, but tge people who really know divination can use pretty much anything to do it... most know examples are bones, sea shells, pebbles and the pendulum... but even tea or coffe residues can be used, so yeah... no alternate universe, just a less known aspect of this universe.

@@spiker.ortmann i mean divination is diverse across time and culture at best and just pattern recognition at worst so I'm sure you can use anything you wish, though i assume you are taking about a specific context of divination or spirituality? But in any case, there's still a universe somewhere where regular playing cards are used for divination in pop culture, even if tarot in that universe can also be used but lacks authority

@@friend_trilobot i meant spanish cards ARE used for divination in pop culture in many countries and as far as i know the same applies for french cards... never heard of uno cards, but one can never be sure... 😁 and romanies (gypsies as they are most known) didn't use tarot but "normal playing cards" and they are the main example of card reading so... tarot just became popular because it's easier to read.

@@spiker.ortmann gotcha. Where I live its only tarot in pop culture, So my pop culture doesn't give me that info. I'm not surprised at all, though. And happy about it, even

I wanna ask how long does a recording session takes. But after looking at the video in VERY close detail... I can see the mountains of effort and possibly retakes. Truly a honorable man in his line of work. Also nice hair OT, is it blue or purple?

18:08 I have a moths onesie/bodysuit, and my favourite part of it is gettin to let ppl know that all those beautiful butterflies on my clothes they just complimented are in fact magnificent moths. Moths and butterflies look prty much the same in many cases, tho if they look just a little closer theyll see a few stereotypical moth lookin moths on it too; but they usually notice the butterfly lookin ones first I find both to be wonderful and worthy of lookin at as beautiful and magnificent :3

With that last one I instantly got the idea to dump some holy water into the ocean to bless the entire planet... Then I heard about how at least more then half needs to be holy water for the entirety to be converted... I need a lot of water from the pope now.
