Nobody seemed to notice the absence of pouring the filter before adding the grounds. The cup will taste papery and in the case of cheaply made mass manufacture filters, a bleach taste finer palates will pick up. He also rushed the bloom. Hit all the other prerequisites tho. The LC

Nope. Rinsing filter is not mandatory in some country, mainly because the paper quality is top notch. And boy, we can't judge someone's method just by looking a video.

You mean to say there are filters in the world that do not need rinsing. This works with unbleached paper I guess. Glad you clarified, thanks. Can you reply with some filter links demonstrating this please? TIA, The LC

Art Hermansen I do pour over and you are right he didn’t rinse the filter.

Hi James and thanks for inputting. Wisangkopi seems to thing that rinsing is not mandatory in some countries, because the paper quality is top notch. So I asked Wisangkopi for some links to those filters. I was under the impression that rinsing was used whether the filter was bleached paper or not, of another natural material or not, to get the ceramic, glass or metal filter holder up to temp for extraction and also to rinse away the paper taste that bleached or unbleached paper alike could have. I know there are some filters out there with pretty rare materials, but wouldn't the filter holders they sit in require rinsing to bring the material up to temperature so as to setup good extraction? Thanks in advance, The LC

@@TheLoneComic Ive read in some other YT thread that kalita wave papers manufacturer reccomend not to rinse. I think thats a V60 though (maybe not, im new at this)

Because it separates coffee powder from hot water during extraction process, better not to stir with a spoon at the beginning. Study hard and be a professional.

Agitation is pretty common in brewing filter coffee, especially for lighter roasts. Check out Scott Rao or Matt Perger's V60 method for an in depth guide.
