I had a strange tomato blight some years ago. The roots looked like they had table-tennis balls attached. My father said that patch of ground was off limits for at least two years afterwards. Unfortunately the whole area sits between a black walnut and a magnolia, and those trees ruin everything. Roots, tannins. It's not a great patch.
