Thank you Cassandra for giving a voice to the many victims of online fraud that remain silent in the background. Courageous conversations are definitely needed - along with compassion and systemic change. Please keep fighting the good fight - too much is at stake globally (with $60 billion lost each year in romance fraud alone). Your talk is a great overview for people to reflect on. I was like so many others (up until 8 years ago), when I honestly believed ... It could never happen to me. Let's keep talking.

This is so true.. experiencing it right now. Hearing a police officer say "we can investigate and all, but there's nothing we can do. This is all the help you can get." is like hearing how long you'll get to live from the doctor.

I have been duped many times in my life. The problem is that I am a carer by profession and I have been more or less abandoned by my large family. My work tells me that I must overlook the negativity of people and then that goes over to people who are manipulating me. All I can say to myself is that there are good people in this world and I must be talking to one of those good people but alas, I am not. Now I sit here and I do not associate with anyone online or offline. I do not like people asking me for monies be they religious, social or otherwise.
