Hey...Thanks for the informal teaching on how to clean out the prop tangled in fishing line. I honestly like the videos of real life fishing of losing gear and the uncommon breaking of the paddle. Some days fishing can be frustrating but it all adds to the fun. Always enjoy your contagious enthusiasm for fishing! Looking forward to your reviews on the Old Town PDL106.

Enjoyed your video. Can't believe you were able to spot the lock washer. I carry a spare prop cotter key and nut just in case of emergency. I've broken a prop on a log one time. I have a 106 too.

I hope I never break a prop lmao that sounds terrible.

Just gotta say man, so glad to have found your channel. I was able to get an UL rod setup and got some mule fishing tackle and I had a blast. Not only did I enjoy casting the setup more than anything...I had so much fun catching a ton more fish, proving you don't need more than UL for catch anything from a tiny bluegill to a 20" pike on the same spinner!" Sorry that you had to deal with the braid and the drive!

Well dang buddy that was a character builder. Snags, dinks, jacked up pedal drive then broke the paddle getting out. Oof. I feel for you with the topwater misses, that was a good portion of my Saturday trip. Good that you found and recovered the star washer for your pedal drive. It keeps the plastic nut from backing out...River did look good it just hit you too hard

At least you can't blame me for jinxing your paddle or your sunglasses. Whew! 😇😇 ...I had a day this week where everything seemed to be going wrong as well. Then today, I lost a jig on an underwater snag. It took me about 10 minutes to get a leader retied and put a replacement jig on. I was trying to cast to the right of the snag on my first cast with the retied jig, my line didn't release off of my finger as planned. It kind of got stuck as it does to me every once in awhile, and don't you know, it went a few feet further to the left and bam! Same under water piece of structure got THAT jig. First cast after the retie! At least the wind had died down a bit and I got my new leader and new jig on pretty quickly that time. I just had to laugh out loud at my misfortune. I think I even said "that's fishing" out loud. ...but... I caught more fish today than any other single day in the past several months. Maybe Fall fishing has finally reached me here in NC! Enjoyed the video. Did you replace the Dobyn's yet? I had mine with me today but I used my new 6' 2" Olympic Bellezza SUL most of the day. I never thought I'd be using 2.3 lb. anything for line, never mind "Ester". I had never even heard of Ester line until about 3 months ago. Definitely a challenge to manage, and in the wind like I had today... not for the inexperienced angler, that's for sure. You think wind knots with mono are a pain... Ester is way worse! ...but today I didn't have to cut off any line! Anyway... I'm loving the new rod and Vanford reel combo. Absolutely the most fun / enjoyable fishing experience I've ever had as far as the gear is concerned. I smile every time I feel a "tic" and even more so when the rod loads and I get to play a fish. I may be getting a second one for Christmas! ...I ramble. Thanks for sharing! By the way... that skip at 2:11 was awesome! Skip of the century INDEED!

Haha “that’s fishing” is about all you can say in these situations! I want to keep playing with Ester to figure out how much I like it.

@@FishAnything Recently I tried some "reel snot" I used to use on mono. It drastically changed the manageability. Varivas has some line conditioner I'm going to check out.

Looks like it was a frustratingly fun river trip. The 106 looks interesting but I can atest the Nucanoe U10 is a fantastic fishing platform (I've been fishing from one since August)!
@FishAnything21 күн бұрын
Those Nucanoes look really nice! I like pedal drive too much but I could see that being a really fun setup.

Good to see you catch something on that Dark Sleeper. I have one, but still haven't used it yet. Untipically slow day for you, but still fun none the less! I still don't get how that braid got so tangled around the drive. You weren't even using it!
@FishAnything21 күн бұрын
It was a weird day! Not sure how I feel about the Dark Sleeper… it kept rolling over and snagging which I was annoyed with - supposed to be weedless.

I’ve really noticed that the River is really low with the lack of rain this fall. I think the further North you go would be better fishing on the Grand. Godbless ya Ethan

You skipped over the good part of the river (west of town). Was interested in seeing how you did on that stretch. I haven't gone that direction this year, but I usually only get a couple per trip, not as tiny but not big either). Water being low probably didnt help either
