Big Brown Trout On The ROOSTER TAIL!

Super ultralight trout fishing? Yes please. I got out for a full day of trout fishing in great weather conditions and was able to catch several brown trout, including one jumbo. I used a handful of spinners on this particular day but the MVP has to be this Brown Trout color Rooster Tail. It might just be a new confidence color for me.

I loved fishing with my dad, especially trout. As a game warden, he taught me to all about the special handling of a trout. He also taught me to let it go by placing it in the water, sort of cradling it. When I was 10, I think just my second trip out, I tossed a trout back in the water like a bass or bluegill and he took my fishing pole out of my hand, scolded me severely, packed our stuff and we left. I’ve never done it again. Like my father, I respect trout. We are their stewards.

Yeah I could have done a better job releasing these fish. To be honest, it is quite difficult to get them back in the water properly here unless you have waders. I tend to be standing several feet off the bank in many areas.

Thanks for posting the lost spinner and tree cast scenes. Things we all experience yet most YT-ers omit from their content. Also couldn't agree more on the trash infiltrating our fishing spots. Finally I am a HUGE inline spinner fan so glad you had success on the Rooster Tail.

Excellent trout video. I agree with you about trying to clean up the local waterways. I sometimes will bring a trash bag with me, Come back to the same fishing spot and see the same type of litter.

I'm also on the board for 2023, caught a largemouth yesterday yo-yoing a red lipless crankbait. I was so elated to hook a bass in open water....IN FEBRUARY! It was the earliest open water bass catch in my life!

That's a fine fish. Looked like a firetiger rooster tail. Browns seem to like yellow based lures,and gold blade's.

@@FishAnything great if you looking for a jigging rod I suggest for the phenix dragon fly but that’s one of there higher end rod and if you want a all around rod I suggest getting the phenix mirage it’s a great rod for drop shorting, jigging and great for spoons and little crank baits or little jerkbaits

These are Turtle Gloves. Small company in Michigan! And yeah, the natural browns and blacks with a hint of yellow seem to work best for me too.

Definitely! I love the size 1000 Shimanos. I like the Nasci more than the Sedona for a few more bucks but both are fantastic options

Yeah, litter all finds its way in our waterways. We need better systems and more responsibility as a full society (myself included). Endless consumerism and wasteful packaging is certainly a big factor. Whether we intentionally litter or not, we have too much unsustainable trash which inevitably ends up in our waters and ultimately the ocean.

Rooster tail is a deadly lure for trout. I think you are too use to fish with jig, you don't have to set the hook so hard for spinner. You could pull the lure out from the fish'a mouth with that strong hook setup. Gentle and steady.

I understand they aren't the most graceful releases but in most cases I was standing several feet above the water with no clear ability to get down on the water. I try to care for the fish as best I can but I am not going to put myself in a position to fall in and fill my boots with water as that would be problematic. Thanks for watching!
