I was surprised that you made this career choice but now that I think of it, you are moving in this direction does make sense to me. I am working on finding more 1-on-1 students but I would like to do digital services and teaching other educators in the future. Happy birthday to you, also!

Im still going to be in the online teaching space but I will slowly end my 1:1 classes to focus more on coaching teachers to really step into bigger things. :) Thanks for the birthday wishes :)

Sorry I missed the live, but wow! So happy for you. I'm one to be frozen in the one-on-one. Beyond burnt out, but no idea how to move from this. LOVE my students though, but seven years of one-on-one is good, I'd love to figure out my actual niche to move towards life goals.

I’m teaching English at a high school in Japan which is an interesting experience. I considered starting teaching online, but it seems the market is saturated. Investigating options for remote, online work now in preparation for leaving Japan in the future.

Ignore the noise, there is no such thing as saturation - go for what you want and you will get out of it what you put into it.

You made me laugh when you said you sold 79 courses before you even created any of your product - love the honesty! What a great idea not to waste the time til you knew for sure it would work. Reminds me of when I imported 300 kilos of premium green coffee beans and imported a coffee roaster to Australia before I had ever even roasted one bean. Just knew I wanted to do something different. Now we are in Mexico and I've tried a few ideas that haven't worked. I have never taught English and it doesn't thrill me 🤣, but I need to do something and think I'd be at least ok at it. Questions: Do you think buying an online subscription for curriculums (like Lernaling) is a good idea for someone who doesn't know where to begin? And Lernaling appears to be geared to children rather than adults - is there an adult online site for curriculums? And lastly, is it possible to go independent to begin with and skip working for an online platform, or do you not suggest this right away? You are amazing Tim! I will probably buy a monthly subscription to Koala Go and will definitely do it through your link when I am ready (didn't see a link of yours for Koala Go, but your name shows up as an option to tick at the checkout point). Thanks!
@onlineteacherdude1284Ай бұрын
Hi, yes selling before you create the course is a great way to validate it before investing in the time to create the lessons, etc.. Yes, online subscriptions for lessons is a great idea if creating your own is not something you want to do. There is also Off2Class and Crystal Clear have lessons geared towards adults. I think a company is a great way to start but if you are ready, going solo is the way to go. I have a webinar you can watch about this if interested. Just shoot me an email timgascoigne1@gmail.com. Yes, I have a link for Koala and Classin, just email me :) Thanks again!

I'm retired and living on social security (at the poverty line). I don't need to get "rich;" I just need about $700 per month. 😏 I haven't gone online yet but have a Bachelors from U. C. Berkeley and a Masters from the University of Utah. I need some more income pretty quick. Appreciate any info. Exactly how do I do that? There really wasn't much in the video.

@robertmr.freeburg37394 ай бұрын
I have mixed feelings. My wife and I have successfully built our online classes. 320 lessons on average taught per month. Plus we make our own curriculum. I am so proud of what we’ve done. Yet…it is a MASSIVE time suck. And let’s face it…AI avatars will likely replace our jobs in 2 years. My wife and I must evolve and pivot.

Well I don’t think we will be replaced that quickly. But it is always good to build other things on the side. Good job on your success!

@onlineteacherdude12844 ай бұрын
Fair enough, that is a lot! Whats your plan next?
@robertmr.freeburg37394 ай бұрын
Yes. That is the pace my wife does with classes, while I build customized curriculum. We are very successful at it. And I prefer our curriculum and visuals over any premade curriculum. But it’s grueling. We’d really need to master AI and video production to clone my wife to do automated virtual lessons.
