I felt the group interview was difficult because there were 8-9 people all trying to make a good impression and it was difficult to get a word in without 3 or 4 people trying to speak at the same time. Would have preferred a smaller group interview with 3-4 people so they can at least see a bit more from each candidate. Good luck everyone.

(Same) Honestly.. I just said I was from Florida. I have a friend who lives down there and I snowbird there a lot. Figure I'll cross that bridge when I get there to see what kind of specific information they want of my whereabouts. I'll let you know how it goes- just applied looking forward to hearing back in 3 business days they said, so Wed./Thurs. next week I should know.

I wonder if any people *actually* got jobs as they aren't hiring anymore. All their teachers must be rockstars who never quit or get ill - or maybe there is another reason they shut down hiring?

This video was from a couple of years ago so yes, they might have different hiring needs now. Lots of people did get hired.

This sounds really promising. Thanks, Tim. I'm interested. I've been an ESL trainer for several years now. But my biggest concern is if they accept Asian teachers. Would they accept Chinese, Japanese, or Filipino teachers who are fluent in English, but don't live in the US, for example??
@onlineteacherdude12842 жыл бұрын
Sure, why not! They just want fluency in English.

Yes, that's correct. They are transparent about that as are most online teaching companies. Its not just online teaching, a lot of gig work companies can't contract with those states.

So, a former 27-year-career professional ESOL teacher with licenses, certifications, and a master's degree gets rejected? Synthesis is nothing more than utilizing the Socratic Method Pedagogy in the classroom where the instructor's role is rooted in mentoring and facilitating. With that being said, what in the hell is Synthesis really looking for in a candidate? Absolutely ridiculous.
@onlineteacherdude12842 жыл бұрын
Sorry that it didn't work out Joe. I think they are really picky about who they hire based on their very high hourly rate. I wouldn't take it personally. I don't think 27 years as ESOL teacher has any bearing since it's not ESL teaching. Don't take it personally. They just have to be super specific in the skills they want to see in the interview game.
@joem.25612 жыл бұрын
@@onlineteacherdude1284 No offence, my friend. However, ESOL and ESL are exactly the same field. However, I appreciate the response. Have a good one.
@onlineteacherdude12842 жыл бұрын
@@joem.2561 Im very aware they are the same :) Been in this industry for ages. But Synthesis is not ESOL / ESL which is what my comment was about - having ESOL / ESL experience has no bearing on getting hired because it's not an ESOL / ESL company. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your suggestion Rob! However, this is a real online teaching job that many ESL teachers are working for. I made it very clear who this is for in the beginning of the video. Next time, just skip it, not every video will be suited for you. The time it takes you to write negative comments on people's video could be better spent, don't you think?
