Wow! Didn't know about the 420-V. Dad still has his 1958 420 Utility. Spent many many summers on that tractor!

I love that his dad told him to get out of the field. At the end of my teens I had a few such late nights and with similar field results; my father's approach was to just push us harder as punishment for staying out late. Think of that as one may, it lead to a fair bit of broken equipment.

I like this show a lot and lost access to it when Verizon Fios canceled RFD-TV, and replaced it with junk tv. :-(

I’ve restored quite a few John Deere tractors the best thing about John Deere is they make their own synthetic enamel And that stuff works beautiful it’s really hard to screw it up you could put it on with a garden hose

Ok I watched this. Love the old tractors. What I want to see though is how much work he puts into moving all those tractors to the show. Unless of course the show is at his farm. I mean he must have to work pretty hard to move em' all.

It would be an adventure for myself as I worked as a John Deere mechanic. From the mid to late 70's up into about 16 years later I hve worked on about every brand of tharctor made. I enjoyed my work, to me it was very interesting. I eventually ended up as a "Industrial Hydraulics Technican", I speclized in high pressure, closed loop systems. Built machinery for the offshore oil & gas industry. That was the one this ol boy was going to retire from, absolutly loved my job....but cancer had other plans, lol. I was dianosed stage 3 lung cancer. Chemo & radiation treatments at same time. BEAT the cancer, just never recovered from the treatments. Im sorry, got away from the story. A fellow out on the edge had an old model 60, a real 'popping Johnny,. There was couple guys would ride over to his place every time he started it, no muffler, lol. Had a JD drag type offset cutter. The serial number on the cutter was 003. I would love to just walk through this fellows collection, it would be really good if he came alone and told the stories of the tractors life. Cingradulations sir, an amazing collection indeed

The 1937 AOS probably was for A orchard and S for Standard. Not S for Streamlined.

I thought the V tractors were 14 inches longer, they had a plate between the clutch housing and trans. I can't see that area on this one enough but the side view of the wheelbase seems short.

Hi. I inherited a 420 that is beautiful. I want to use it on my farm but unfortunately it has a blown hydraulic pump. Do you happen to know where I might get one (or the rebuild kit?) Thanks!

Do you have a 4620?
@bobschultz91005 жыл бұрын
his 4520 was not produced until the 1969 model year.
@observant985 жыл бұрын
Introduced to the dealers in August of 1968. There first tractor that was turbocharged and had the reliability and durability that competitors didn’t have.
@thegreenerthemeaner4 жыл бұрын
@@observant98 Reliability? Oh you really need some research on this one. They had SEVERAL shortcomings that the 4620 solved. Air cleaner system, injection pumps, would not tolerate much extra heat. The drive train behind the engine was very robust by comparison. Watch the vid of Kinzie 4520 with a Detroit.
@barrysimmons47244 жыл бұрын
Didn't that 420 come after the MT ?
@fredellis4994 жыл бұрын
The model 40 T followed the MT The 420 V and all other model 420 were produced in three different phases. The first phase was all green body with yellow wheels like the 40. The second phase had the yellow panels on the hood sides like this tractor but with a vertical steering wheel like those seen on the MT,40 and the first two 420s . The third phase had the slanted steering wheel as does this unit. Each phase was produced for one year starting in 1956 making this tractor a 1958 model as stated.
