I have a DC air conditioner in my van too. I mostly only run it on shore power though. It sure is a life saver and I view it as a necessity for my cat to stay safe.

Yes, A/C is expected, you’re right. Here in the South, even the cheap campers have to have A/C.

Very cool 😎! (No pun there- Nomadic has a great collection of choices for DIY!) That Dometic unit is an excellent low profile (exterior) unit, but it's best for industrial applications, eg.: Bobtail semi tractors, delivery vans. Nomadic has a lot of cool goodies for DIY other things as well.... Waiting for part Duex!

Very cool video. Well done. I prefer a grinder and cut off disc for thin sheet metal. Creates sparks but less chance of binding or vibrating. Excellent installation! Mahalo for sharing! : )

Looking good. Any concern with the extra heat from a black one compared to white? Also, if it were me, I'd measure the length of the cutoff studs and replace them with bolts the same length for a cleaner install. Though I assume it will all be covered eventually anyway.

Your van should have come with a nice a/c unit for the cost of the dang thing! Man, that a/c unit from nomadic isn’t a cheap unit. For that price is should make your van one large brick a ice! Great video. Oh, you’ve been a woodworker for quite some time now, and my guess is that you’ve used a jigsaw fir many years…so just by looking at that initial blade you had in the jigsaw it really was a bit obvious the blade was too short…yes? I can already tell your van is going to not only look awesome, but it’s going to be built extremely well as is everything you build.
