Yeah craftsmanship and all that but the one thing here that really impresses me here is that it has german plates and therefor got through a TÜV inspection with those modifications
@jakubkuczynski6834 жыл бұрын
More stunning is that he´s got the H on his numberplates, what means that it is an officialy recognized oldtimer.
@FarmerBeavis4 жыл бұрын
excactly - that's what surprised me the most. Getting TÜV is impressive but then getting the vehicle recognized as close-to-original enough to be on veteran plates? Really impressive!

I wasn‘t going to address this but given the amount of comments on this subject matter... You guys realize that there were period rallye cars, right? Wheels are period correct as is the styling of the livery. The only things sticking out are the roofrack and camping conversion, neither of which is a permanent mod to the car and considered load, bot to mention reversible in 30mn- therefore irrelevant.
@FarmerBeavis4 жыл бұрын

A couple of months ago I had an idea to make an off road Porsche. I looked all over the internet for off road Porsches, getting ideas of what maybe one day I could do. And I stopped for a bit, then this video came up in my recommended, and I realized how badly I want to do this. I really hope that one day I will make this happen.

I have two 924's, one of them for 30 years and I have never seen such an amazing job. You did not hack the car and cut it into pieces and while it has been modified it somehow still looks stock - in a way just like the factory would have done. So very well done to you!

"You should go and do something cool too" - awesome message. Makes me wanna take my 944 camping. I will. I promise! You picked the correct car. These are surprisingly practical. Actually i cannot think of any sports car more practical than the transaxle Porsches. I have used mine as a daily for 10 years and then gave it a full restoration as a gift for never letting me down. The mods you did to the car elevated it to another level. You should sell them as an overland kit! :-D

I drove to Nordkapp with a friend in a diesel Polo and we slept in the car. We also built ourselves a camping extension and dear friends, you can do it for much less money. The shit heap of a car cost 1000€ and the camping extension 150€. We drove the 7000 kilometers without any problems. We were ridiculed for the idea, but it turned out to be a wonderful journey of beauty and adventure.

924's always made me happy...even when I owned quite a few transaxle cars...sleek and simple bodywork of 924, cheap as far as porsches go, and if you got few screws in the head as these guys do you can make something cool...There is no need for " singer" money to enjoy life...Excellent Video😊

Great video showing great craftmansship. As an owner of a 1980 924 myself, this was an inspiration to get something done with my car as well. Lacking a place to do a restoration/rebuild, it has been stuck in storage for the last couple of years. I think I have to look harder for a garage space to rent, so that I can get some work done on this classic of a car. I really like the rally look, it almost looks that it has been a part of the Paris-Dakar rally back in the day. Very cool. Thanks.

Did it to my 02 allroad. Built the rear hatch into a sleeping section and re-wired the 12v out to both a hot plate and heater, also built a gravity feed for the fuel canisters on the roof rack and insulated the living hell out of it. Also got rid of the air-ride for some "offroad" aka level 4 ride height coilovers and LM60's. Built a snorkel because "reasons" and flashed the 2,7L. My favorite memory, even though it was mostly for going up mountians in the north-east USA for snowboarding, was river crossing where a guy in a 4thgen K series and a half-clapped together M35 wouldn't try, but my stupid lifted wagon did. Not sure if I got luckly or if it was the allroad to this day, but the water was over the hood, nothing was leaking into the cab, and I got out.
