@jnolasco242 ай бұрын
There are reasons why plea deals are given when someone is obviously guilty - overburdened court systems, lower costs to the state, benefits to the victims families for not having to go through the emotional trauma of a jury trial, etc. I think we should also note that sometimes a plea deal is not always the best option for a defendant - they could go to trial and be found not guilty (think Casey Anthony).

What would be better is for the system to stop giving worthless parents so many chances to continue abusing and traumatizing said children and allow them to be adopted when they are younger. How was she allowed to take Greyson home if she lost custody of her first baby? Why wasnt she drug tested in the hospital before or after birth given her history?
@peggypeggy41372 ай бұрын
I can't believe they let her take Greyson home. She would have likely given him up the same way as the first baby and his chances would have been much better with a foster parent than with this loser. She wanted the benefits not the kid. I think that all parents/babies should be tested before they are allowed to leave the hospital. It may lead to some people opting for home births but it may get some of the mothers to quit when they find out they are pregnant.

The mortality rate of children was WAY higher in the past. Things like contraception, access to safe and legal abortions, free healthcare and a robust social security net have brought down the numbers of unalived infants so much. The difference is that you now get informed of pretty much every case. It obviously still happens too often and every case is tragic but it’s definitely not true that it got worse, quite the opposite.

I wish I had parents who could have taken my children while I was trying to help myself out of substance abuse. Six years sober next month.
