@@SomeKZbinGuy obviously there is missing footage to know how much she actually ate. But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that someone with a food addiction would need guidance with portion control and giving someone who is actively trying to lose weight an entire cake isn’t the most supportive thing in their weight loss and progress. It’s like handing someone who’s trying to quit smoking a pack of cigarettes. You can assume they would last them a couple of days or a week or however long you want. But you didn’t give them one cigarette. You gave them a pack and they can smoke them as quickly as they want.

The young people don't realize that it's harder to lose weight once a person is older. Also, better for the young to lose weight now as an investment for their old age. Because aging is difficult enough what with losing friends and loved ones, having a harder time doing things and being closer to the end of life. Being old is a mental, emotional and physical challenge and many old people are sadly quite lonely.

Is there only the one fitness guy with the group? You really need two. One that stays with the leaders and the other that stays and motivates the stragglers.

Stigma is a fundamental cause of health inequalities, and obesity stigma is associated with significant physiological and psychological consequences, including increased depression, anxiety and decreased self-esteem. It can also lead to disordered eating, avoidance of physical activity and avoidance of medical care.

The Rocky Mountains give a good hike and many people love doing it here. However, the Rocky Mountain state in which I live in is above sea level, so if you live at sea level it will be more difficult, because you'll have fewer Red Blood Cells with Hemoglobin to carry Oxygen.

I love the fact that with each episode you watch the slowest gets picked on and slagged off until they leave. Then when have left the next slowest, who was was initially slagging off the old slowest, gets picked on by the rest of the group and is upset no one is supporting them. Case in point for Haley in the next episode.

I notice that some of the walkers are wearing hiking boots, including Hayley, the girl with the blisters I would only wear boots like that for rough hillwalking; for a walk like that they would have been better in trail shoes

They are probably concerned about support, if you roll your ankle at that size you cant just walk it off, But I do agree if you aren't that heavy and/or not packing a lot of gear, tail shoes (or even good quality running shoes) are the way to go.

They seemed unprepared in general. Why hadn´t they at least been told to build up to being able to walk 5 miles comfortably, starting 2 months previous? That would´ve shown them which underwear was going to chafe, what footwear would and wouldn´t cause problems (seriously: people that heavy in hiking boots need insoles) and saved them a lot of pain. Add one rest day a week where they go swimming or something and they probably would´ve had a lot less issues. But of course making people suffer and shouting at them makes for better tv.

@@miekekuppen9275 I remember a TV program about this sort of thing a few years ago - finding unfit people and taking them from an urban environment to go on a long - ish walk in remote country One of the organisers/instructors was very disgusted. He said that all the gear was sorted and issued 3 months ago, but most of them haven't made any effort to help themselves; very few of them have broken in their boots, and some of the kit is still in its plastic bags
@miekekuppen9275
@miekekuppen9275 2 жыл бұрын
@@geoffreyboyling615 That would be terribly frustrating but at least the experts would have been seen taking their responsibilities seriously and it would´ve been people´s own choice. You can´t expect sedentary folks to know what´s important during exercise without even telling them. Plus mentioning recommended prep would be helpful for viewers who´d like to get more active themselves.

The last who had the leg swelling and had to quit is showing signs of myxedema also above her eyelids. This means she is suffering severe undiagnosed hypothyroidism which explains alot of her weight gain. I had severe primary hypothyroidism and nearly died as I went into a myxedemic coma. I may be wrong but the type of swelling is exactly how mine was and the non pitting Edema in her legs is a sign of this also. I am 6 ft tall with a solid build and only went up to 92 kgs at my top weight, which is pretty good considering my endocrinologists said i had no thyroid function for two years. It took 2 years to get better and be back at about 72 kgs, which is skinny for my large bone structure.
