When I lived in Tokyo, Harajuku and Meiji Jingu Park were one of my favorite places to go to see the punk bands play on the street. I'm losing my ability to walk, so I really appreciate these walks through Today's Tokyo to keep up.

Love this new format. The livestreams are great with the live interaction but the resolution dropping to minecraft level periodically just takes away from the experience. This really makes us feel like "we're there with you".

I remember going to Takeshita Dori 15 years ago. Just walking around there on Sunday morning was incredible. The journey started in Yoyogi Park where there were groups of rockabillies with weird hair dancing around a cassette, then crossing a bridge where all the lolitas, goth and punk youngsters gathered and finally ending in Takeshita Street, doing window shopping around independent designers shops. Now it looks like that people go there for the Ikea and the crepes... Well, things change I guess, but I feel lucky that I witnessed that japanese rebel culture at that time Thanks for the video, 8K looks gorgeous!

So sad to see the old Harajuku station gone. I hoped that the facade could have been integrated into whatever took its place. Many happy and poignant memories of that old building, saying goodbye to friends after a happy Sunday afternoon, taking a breather there after the Meji shrine New Years chaos, lingering over a good bye kiss, the crush in the overpass, too bad another piece of Tokyo history is gone.

My request is for a video around Yokosuka. Your videos are great, like being there. I was in the American naval base at Yokosuka back in the era. The good days of 360 Yen to the dollar. Yokosuka town is kilometers below the area. Zushi Beach is to the west of the region. In your style of video. I recall taking the train from Yokosuka up to mostly Yokohama, with some Tokyo. I heard the Japanese fleet was kept at Yokosuka during W.W. II if wanting to research history.

@John Does it actually make a difference if the source is 8K or 4K if you are watching on a 4K TV ? I think it doesn't and as hardly anybody in the world has an 8K TV yet wouldn't it be better depending on your hardware of course, to film in 4K and get more frames ? or can your camera get the same ammount of frames in 8k as it could in 4k? It does look awesome thats for sure ! I always try to remember to give you a like, doesn't cost me a thing and will probably help you at least a little bit.

The only thing that ruins these videos is the heavy amount of clipping from the mic. Since you’re doing a little editing, I’d say lowering the gain somewhat and raising it in post with a little compression would result in a far better audio track. If you’re using a Rode Go II you could always double gain it and use two of the lab mics, one at a lower gain level so there’s a redundancy. It’s what we do when we do one presenter videos without a dedicated sound guy.

The number of people with 8K TVs is so small it doesn’t really matter. It serves absolutely no purpose for home viewing if your screen is not the size of a house. The human eye can only perceive so much resolution. It is a format strictly useful for a professional exhibition and video production. Long story short if you’re not watching it in IMAX not getting any tangible benefit over 4K s a viewer. Buy the best 4K set you can.
