Until the Pitch Meeting, I hadn't really thought about the mirror's defense of not letting someone get it if they want to use it and how that really makes all the other defense mechanisms unnecessary.

In the UK its philosophers stone. The reason for the change was they believed that American children would not want to read a book about philosophy.

In hindsight, it was a good marketing decision. Fundamentalist Christians have a hard time understanding that it’s a book of fiction and NOT an actual book of sorcery and black magic that “is an affront to Gawd” or whatever nonsense they can think of. The same thing that happened to D&D nerds in the 80’s. College students were sued by grown ups for black magic and demonic seances. Not in the Dark Ages where “witches” were burned alive, but in the lat 20th century.

While I do love this pitch meeting, there was one comment that made me want to speak out, which is when he talked about why would they leave Harry at his abusive family's house. Because he has a charm from his dead mother that protects him from harm until he turns 17, and he must be with his mother's relative in order for it to 100% function, that being Petunia, his aunt. Also in the book, when Hagrid tells Harry he's a wizard, he actually was surprised to find out that his aunt and uncle didn't tell him anything, implying that he and Dumbledore assumed that Harry would know about the magical world, that he would be told.

This pitch meeting would have taken place in the late 90s and we didn’t find out about that spell until much later in a book that wasn’t even written yet.

@@icantthinkofagoodusername4575 I know she thought of the scene with Hagrid carrying Harry in the deathly hallows very early on, it’s what kept Hagrid alive, she was writing towards that scene for a while. And there is this amazing spreadsheet of sorts of her planning the books, so it’s likely she had the idea of the love protection already very early on.

In my head I’ve always assumed that after the chess piece broke that some sort of spell was triggered and that’s why Ron reacted that way.

In the books Ron actually stood in place of the Knight's piece like Harry & Hermoine did for their respective pieces, & therefore he got injured when the Queen attacked him The movie didn't want to show such a violent attack against a kid & that's why chose to go with Ron riding a physcial Knight piece

I swear there is no way Pitch meetings can't make something like murder hilarious. And don't forget precious gems like "'Ooh, his mother's love is TIGHT!' 'Oh, I don't know about that sentence.' 'I don't love how it sounded either, but I said it and there's no taking it back'", as well as "'Well that's too bad, cause Harry's rich and rich people get what they want.' '(Barely containing his laughter) That is very true.'" Loved the reaction, can't wait for more, keep up the good work. As a Brit, I always get really triggered by the title "Sorcerer's Stone" as the original title of both the film and the book is Philosopher's Stone. Why America had to change the name is beyond me

And also, Key and Peele. If you want "the best sketches," I will be happy to provide them. But please, never change a thing about yourself. I am not being kind for the sake of kindness. It's just that you perfectly take on a movie review but don't make it about you. I can't stress this enough. The majority of movie reactions I have come across are simply unwatchable because the reactors make it all about themselves, constantly pulling the rug out of the movie's feet constantly (by pausing the tape) and obsess on it and insisting on having their word. They make the movie about them and not the movie. Making occasional comments that don't overpower the movie is fine. Anyone interested in the work you and others do have already seen the films that you and they love. We aren't looking for interruptions or explanations. We also aren't looking for people who pretend to not have seen the movie before responding to it. It might be occasionally be ok, but to pretend to not having seen the clip is a transparent lie. What we are looking forward to is living vicariously with a soul who loves the same things we do. Movies were MEANT to be a communal experience. Those days are long gone (Covid-19. crying babies, protonic reversal as a result of crossing streams... the list is endless), But being barred getting together physically to enjoy a movie, videos like yours makes up for a lot. Point is: Don't Change. I love you as a brother and your content has been a blessing to me. Your takes on takes are so good that I find myself revisiting them every few days. Slytherin isn't just for the evil kids, it just so happens that a lot of the worse wizards came from there, but Merlin was a Slytherin in Harry Potter canon and the current students in Hogwarts are the children of death eaters and war heroes.
