I drive right passed there everyday for work. I can tell you that the guardrail did its job & saved lives because had it not held, the truck would’ve gone down an embankment. I haven’t heard an update recently on their conditions, however I hope they’re recovering each day.

Shame a negligent driver caused all this by letting his ladder to drop on the highway. Since this is a toll road there may be camera footage from the toll system to identify who caused this.

I think the driver of the fire vehicle was just as negligent. That ladder would’ve been like running over a tin can for that large truck. There was no reason to swerve.

So what would happen had they just rolled over the ladder while braking, instead of trying to avoid it and losing control of the truck?

Likely truck would have just rolled over it but it is hard to second guess a driver when you have meer seconds to make that kind of a decision.

Sounds like the Firetruck was behind a vehicle blocking its veiw ...vehicle swerved missed it and they didnt...

couple years ago i was on the 170N just past the 101 in the hov lane. there was a step ladder in the hov lane just chillin' there. i luckily avoided it. called 311 to report it.

Almost hit a double fly ladder on the highway and was thinking how bad it would have trashed a pickup. A class B crew buggy...yikes.

I hope they all make a full recovery with No life changing injuries. No doubt heading home after a long hard day fighting fires. Best thing, their all going home maybe not today or tomorrow, but for some eventually ❤️‍🩹
