Onyx is a silicate mineral and working with it releases silica dust. When inhaled, silica dust damages the lungs permanently and often leads to death. We see it a lot here in India among artisans who work with silicaceous rocks such as onyx and agate, and even granite which contains a good bit of quartz. As a medical doctor, I would strongly advocate the use of N95 respirators with exhalation valves; after all there's nothing more precious than good health and life. Much love and best wishes to Pakistan from India 🇵🇰😍🇮🇳

I had a friend who was a marble worker from Italy, who also did "scrap work" by using pieces of Marble and Onyx, and then gluing them together into shapes. This used up much of their scrap, and they sold these "artworks" to the Hollywood crowd, for a ridiculous profit. I bought two "block tables" from him which were hollow, and had lamps installed underneath, which produced a very visible glowing artifact, as the light shown through the Onyx. Epoxied together but still holding together after 70+years. Epoxy works.

The glue being used is polyester resin, not epoxy. He adds 1 - 2% of organic peroxide which initializes the curing reaction of the resin. Powder is just some stone powder which he adds for to get paste like consistency. Epoxy resin would provide even stronger bond but it requires 1 - 7 days to reach it's max strength. Cured polyester resin begins to melt in temperatures over 80 Celsius, so the adapter piece is easy to remove by heating it. Probably the most common use of polyester resin is fiberglass wetting. Gel coat paints for boats are also often polyester resin based.

Absolutely magnificent. I love watching videos like these because it’s simple, relaxing, and nerve calming. Though these craftsmen don’t seem like they make a lot of money doing this it has to be rewarding going home at the end of the day knowing you’ve accomplished this magnificent piece of work. I would love to be an international trader going to places like this and buying their handiwork and then selling it to high end specialty shops in places like Miami and Los Angeles. Edit: One added benefit of something like this made of real stone is that it’s not quite as fragile as ceramic pottery. This stone was made by nature in the depths of the earth under enormous heat and pressure for untold years that cannot be reproduced by man. I don’t know how much it would be worth in a high end shop in the United States but I know it would be worth quite a bit and worthy of a billionaires home.

Not everyone needs to be bogged down by other people's concerns. Most safety regulations are only in place to protect the business from being sued for bad employee behaviors and / or negligence. It was never truly about actually protecting employees. Also, many OSHA requirements have created more processes and complications for actually doing work, thus driving up cost and causing employees to xut corners. People need to stop acting like everyones mother and just let people do things their way because you really don't care about the person's safety like you pretend you do.
