OO Gauge BASIC SCENERY - STARTED!
Been waiting a long time to get scenery in, as this gives the structure and format to the layout.
In this episode I:
build the platforms
create formers for hills
use paper mache method
apply platform edges
use filler to create tarmac

Good job there John. Nothing wrong with the old methods for making up scenery. Back in the day when model railways were in their infancy, papiar mache, dyed sawdust and tea leaves were the only things available. All these different scenic products you can get today, didn't exist. It is nice to see people still using the old way for creating scenery. Looking good so far Cheers for now ............................Geoff

Thanks Geoff, now given an idea Id hadn’t thought of tea leaves, great idea thanks. I got a massive bag of saw dust free about a year ago. Well with Vera Lynn back in the charts best keep our chins up and look ahead. Good times are acomin! Stay safe Geoff

Hi John- I like how you have made the disused platform looks very effective as does the whole of the scenic work. We got some different shots of the backscene which really fits in with the scenery and in particular that stormy cloud at the right hand end. As our American cousins would say Awesome and I am looking forward to what comes next...………….Cheers Kev

Hi John, O so that's how its done but I used the same construction on my scratch built station but for the edge just cut paper to the shape of the edge and then marked it with a pen at regular intervals so will look forward to seeing you continue with yours and the finished result. I am sure you are keeping safe as this building take a lot of time and does not allow us the time to go out but still hope you are well all of you. Cheers Robert.
@piccadillymodelrailways
@piccadillymodelrailways 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. Are you referring to the platform build? How you did it sounds like the regular way. For me on this occasion wanted to incorporate the platforms into the embankments. I am trying to go into super detail which, as you have said WILL take a very long time to achieve. Probably just as well I’m not working atm. Thanks as always for your comment.

Hi thanks for sharing. About the disused tunnel, over here they use wired gates to stop people from going in. That way you can see into normally it is fulled with rubbish and old rail parts.

Hi John,. I'm really enjoying watching you create Piccadilly sidings. It's very inspirational and I'm picking up lots of tips - although the point electrics lost me a little. Out of interest did you use software to plan your layout, or did you just draw it out? Thanks and keep safe.
@piccadillymodelrailways
@piccadillymodelrailways 4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you, I do appreciate that, sorry the point electrics was confusing, although if you need to wire points for DCC, may I suggest undertake one step at a time, by watching a tiny part of the video, complete your work and so on. The layout was planned in AnyRail only because space was tight. In fact Any Rail’s version was quite cost to reality. By the way Piccadilly Sidings layout was moved to its own channel, as a many people wanted dedicated N gauge content on this channel. There have been a few videos there now which won’t appear here. I do however post content of interest to both scales and on both channels PICCADILLY SIDINGS CHANNEL: kzbin.info/door/BpgT3gyJSORjh09fv3Y_mg

Good video like your ideas as for platform facing next to track why not try das air drying clay thinly applied then use a cheap throwaway pen and shape the end into brick shape the use it to imprint the clay kind regards Rob Johnston

Thank you, yes I suppose I am using different methods but its all about keeping costs low, buying essentials, after that it can wait. Difficult times Im sure you understand. The channel name is Piccadilly Model railway, with the N gauge being called ‘Piccadilly’ and the OO layout Piccadilly Sidings. I rebranded the graphics to differentiate between the two layouts, OO is brown and N is blue.

You not the only one to say that and it is VERY close to Manchester Piccadilly, so in some ways ideal. However, sadly the real station is on a junction with the WCML, whereas my setting is a little heritage or station couple of hundred years old, bit forgotten bit sleepy. Otherwise I’d jump at it.
