OOTP 19 Tutorial #8 - Playing Through Games

Appreciate the videos. You're pretty natural at this whole tutorial thing. I was hoping soon you would make a video about hiring new pitching/hitting coaches. OOTP 2019 (my first experience in the franchise) seems to be extremely vague with the quality/stats of the coaches you can hire. And I'm sure you plan on this one already but maybe a shopping a player/trading video.

I was just recording my OOTP window, but I think OOTP treats the substitution screen as a different window. Hopefully you saw my addendum in description.

whats the rationale behind deciding to use the quick-play at-bat decision vs. pressing pitch? Same question about swing? Is there is a difference in outcome? I'm curious because i've been playing through a season essentially pressing #1 each time, and I'm having what seems like a statistically down year for all the players. And, its been getting worse through the year. So, it seems like the AI is learning that I just press #1 and using that against me. But, it might be confirmation bias. I would love to know.

Hey Jason, I'm new to this game, but I think I know the difference, having had the same question myself. Choosing to click "swing" or "pitch" instead of clicking "at bat" will limit the player to that command. If you click "swing" for an at bat then the pitcher won't take or bunt. Note that it it is still possible for the batter to not swing even when you click swing away, so its not like you will never walk if you only choose to "swing." Similarly for a pitcher, if you just click "pitch" for each batter, then you will never "pitch around" or "pitch to contact," the player will just default to whatever algorithm decides the how the pitcher executes "pitch." I hope I'm right, this is how I've been approaching it. If I am wrong I would like to know!

Don't know if you discussed it, but you can change speed of those PtP (play to play) text in the box, I love "immediately" setting.

I'm sure this is much too late to help, and has probably been pointed out, but the relief pitcher overlay isn't coming up (at least when you put in the closer). Something funky with the video capture, I would guess. edit - never mind, just got to the end of the video....
