I bought this watch about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. It's my every day work watch. The combi bracelet it so comfortable and easy to adjust. I take it surfing with no worrys about the clasp coming undone, it's light, looks great and the build quality is second to none. For me it's the perfect watch that will last a lifetime.

Thanks for sharing that Ed... Casio make a mean product and they do tend to last a long time. Some have reported failures of the resin parts as well as water ingress, but they mostly fare extremely well despite rough treatment!

Over 2 1/2 years since this review and it’s still “spot on”. I was looking for something rugged with some sort of automatic time adjustment and, compared to the Bluetooth enabled G-Shocks who are 2 and some times 3 times more expensive, with the “Multi Band 6”, it’s more than suitable. On top of that, from what you say, the composite bracelet is truly a differentiator with its comfort. This one’s at the top of my list for sure! Thanks for sharing.

You re the 1st reviewer I've watched that ever pointed out the gap near the bracelet clasp on this V1 combi. Cheers for that! If anyone owns one we all know it but no one has ever mentioned it in a review. It bothers me a bit sometimes when I look down at my wrist but overall the best bracelet imo for this square G.

dylan, I came of age in the 80's as well. But, I was looking for a wristwatch that I could wear at the gym and in rough use... This watch and it's positive display brother tick all of the boxes. I hate dealing with batteries, so the solar feature is critical to me. I agree, that they look garish and chinzy in pictures, but in use, on the wrist, they present a rather remarkable marriage of form and function. They wear much better than they look in photos and videos. Do yourself a favor and try one on for size the next time you are out shopping at a store that sells these. You might be surprised.

@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that - well I honestly think this composite type bracelet is awesome... I forked out $100 for one to go with my Pro Trek 6000 series, that's proportionally a smaller cost out of the $400 watch. If getting for a $150 watch it's a bit harder to swallow I would think. The outer parts are resin coated so will not really wear any more than usual Casio resin. The middle bits are PVD so may wear, but my experience with modern PVD treatments are that they're pretty darn resilient. Cheers, Ivan.

I considered this watch but chose the GW-S5600 instead, with carbon fibre insert band and titanium caseback. Overall weight is like 47g, the lightest G-Shock on the market I think. That bracelet is truly the star. I am a sucker for a Casio on a bracelet even going so far as to fit a PVD WatchGeko bracelet to the extremely modestly priced MRW-210H-1AVCF. Some of the titanium ProTreks' have matching bracelets and a few other G-Shocks do too, but isn't really the norm. So I appreciate this model for that feature and it is certainly high in desirable functionality. OTOH, even with the blacked out case text there is still quite a bit to read other than the actual watch display, so other than the ProTreks and a Royale I prefer to choose analog display models and sometimes "suffer" strap and buckles. :)
@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm such a sucker for bracelets, and whenever given the chance I would definitely opt for bracelet over any type of strap! Full analog models are a rarity in the G-Shock range I have to say... not many options, unless you mean Ana-Digi models, like the Pro-Trek 6000 and 7000 series ones??
@nightraker
@nightraker 5 жыл бұрын
@@PerthWAtch I have a GW4000D-1A model on bracelet that is all Analog, but I take your point: My all red GA-100B-4A and black GA-700-1BCR are Ana-Digi strap models. Thought I spotted the GW4000 on Denzel's wrist in the upside down airliner crash movie but it is hard to be sure! Conversion to bracelet parts for G-Shocks are not common in my limited research. The Citizen Ecozilla looks sweet with its pricey SteVral conversion and is a great example of catering to us bracelet addicts.
@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Ah yes the Gravitymasters are one of the main choices, in fact probably the only range I would go for in full analog. The big and badass GPW-2000 is tempting but its sheer size has given me pause!
@nightraker
@nightraker 5 жыл бұрын
@@PerthWAtch Gravity Master seems to be as overused as Citizen's "Promaster" and *hawk monikers. :) My GW4000D seems to be discontinued in favor of the ana-digi GA1000 that I think you reviewed. At 57 mm the GPW-2000 sounds big but the various protrusions on Casio cases make getting an accurate, meaningful measurement difficult. Lug to lug isn't published data and might be more useful. At 55 mm, the MTG-G1000D is still my fave for behemoth steel and bracelet G-Shock even tho GPS, like Bluetooth seems a pricey gimmick. The Bulova Precisionist 96B175 bling thing got me started on oversize wrist saucers/weapons.

I have a GW-M5610 (made in Thailand) have had it for the past six years my favorite watch - I can't flaw it except I would like the date to be in non-american format (date/month/year). I believe my model has a 10year battery. As I work as a nurse and I needed a watch to measure heart pulses I decided most recently to purchase a mechanical watch (Muhle Glashutte SAR). I was not able to find a G-shock with simple analogue design.
@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that - I thought that model should have tough solar rather than a "10 year battery"?? Yeah you're right there's no simple analog design amongst G-Shock... they're all either quite complicated or don't have a central second hand. More general Casio do have simpler analogs however.

@@PerthWAtch It sounds like he's talking about the GWB5600-1. There are 3 models in the new GWB5600 square bluetooth range, 2 of which come with the new style composite bracelet you show in this video. I've ordered the GWB5600BC-1B which has a plain black negative display and the bracelet. It was good to see the 2 types of bracelets together here. Would you think the old style one is significantly better than the new, or only marginally?
@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Ah very good, thank you for that! I've taken a look at pics now and it looks like the bracelets are not quite the same as the one on my watch here. Overall I suspect it'll be constructed the same way but this watch has a crosshatch texture on the resin parts whilst the ones on the GWB5600 models have those depressions on the side to mimic the original resin band. With regards to which of the one I showed is better - well the Pro Trek one is a few mm wider and also has push button micro adjust in the claps so it's arguably better and more durable... but I still think the one on this GWM5610 looks better with its texture :)

Thanks for sharing that. I think there are clearly subjective preferences to design... but there is no doubt these models are among the very best selling G-Shocks.

Why are they doing that? Did they say when it’s gonna happen?
@Lee_K_5555
@Lee_K_5555 5 жыл бұрын
No, that is not going to happen. The NIST agency that runs the atomic clock and the WWVB radio tower submitted a 20% reduced budget (under duress from the deficit hawks) to the executive branch showing they could save $5 million USD annually by stopping the service. The problem is that the executive branch NEVER establishes the US budget - it is merely a suggestion that is routinely ignored by the legislative branch (US Congress, who do have sole budgetary responsibilities). The congressional budget for fiscal 2019 shows no elimination of the WWVB signal transmission (the oldest radio station in the US), so this often-reported doomsday rumor is simply not going to occur. Those of us with atomic G-Shocks who live in the US have nothing to worry about. The radio signal is used by emergency personnel, HAM radio operators, the military, and millions of timing devices. This is a political stunt by the current administration, nothing more.

Thanks for that Lee... good to have that clarification. And yeah, I must say all the "reports" I've heard had a very tentative sound about them, and there are a lot of "ifs" and "mays" being used.

Marvell Gilmore, It is my understanding that an EMP blast will destroy circuit boards, batteries, and transistors; therefore only a mechanical watch would continue to function after an EMP blast. I do not know whether a mechanical watch might be magnetized by an EMP blast, but if so, then it's accuracy would be degraded, and it would need to be demagnetized.
@PerthWAtch
@PerthWAtch 5 жыл бұрын
Sounds right to me. Just curious - does the circuitry need to be in operation to be affected by the pulse? I remember that scene in Matrix II where Morpheus and crew powered down the Nebuchadnezzar in preparation of releasing the EMP in case they were spotted...?

@@PerthWAtch I am not sure. In the case of an automobile, the computer(s) would certainly be impacted if the vehicle was running, as would the battery. One wonders whether these onboard computers ever completely power down unless the battery is removed from the vehicle. If you want to survive the emp apocalypse, then you would want to keep spare computers, relays, and a battery in a shielded area or box; to swap out as needed.

@@ivermec-tin666 I know what a EMP can do to a watch circuit board.But anything with a circuit board microchip stuff that's me in the 1999 and up or don't have a solar power generator a Dynamo crank to generate power batteries.A EMP will but wait! I see all these videos about this watch that watch it's all hype.But there is a G-Shock that is EMP proof. G-SHOCK 5688 blackout series. Say it is a military soldiers watch.
