There's something satisfying about how violently it sucks the cardboard in.

This diy makes a lot of sense. The only problem is weak blade rods base design that enables them to move apart from each other. If I go for it, I will find strong constructional design with weak motor. Thanks for the idea.
@fishinkarts28654 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's definitely one downfall to this. You're welcome :)

Great idea! I'm surprised it is that efficient.

awesome ! way more power than anything you can buy. maybe someone should make an inexpensive paper shredder using an electric motor that is similar to a drill's motor? id buy it !

Seriously... Like wtf. Cardboard shredders cost upwards of $1.2k

That's frickin AWESOME. 👍and no you're not going to spend 50 bucks for a good cardboard Shredder I've been looking for one there like $150 $200. I will definitely be doing this once mine Burns Out thanks for the video.

Did you end up making something like this? I’m also in the same boat. I was looking at a 24 sheet basic paper shredder for like 250. And I was just thinking there’s gotta be a cheaper alternative.
@abseiduk Жыл бұрын
Anything above $60 is just not worth the money. But you need 18-24 sheet capacity for cardboard and that's $200 right there.

Zip tie the trigger, put in a switch on the cord...DONE DEAL! Love It!!
@fishinkarts28653 жыл бұрын
That's actually a really good idea. I just need to make a bracket to hold the drill in place.
@windsunh2o3 жыл бұрын
Maybe even a foot-pedal switch. That would be fun!
@rollandelliott Жыл бұрын
@@windsunh2o yep foot switch is only about $10 at walmart
@easymode_RL Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t zip tie any trigger, I know from experience you definitely don’t want to do that for safety reasons.

👀WOW just been brain-fried mashing my way through shredder reviews...problem solved, thank you - I have a massively heavy, ancient Black & Decker drill that will chew its way through ANYTHING and just keeps going, it's a blissful workshop security blanket about to find new employment, many thanks

I love black and decker construction is solid but the price and power out put is always lower.

You've probably since moved on from this. But for anyone trying to replicate this, what you could do is if the shredder unit still has the automatic switch attached, hook it up to a relay and plug the drill into that and use a zip tie to hold down the trigger so that you can still automatic feed it.
@manor17304 жыл бұрын
Very cool. I'm looking for something that would be able to shred several large boxes within a few minutes. This is one of the closest things I've seen I think.

I took a normal paper shredder apart (the motor burned up) and then put a socket in the drill that fit a bolt on the shredder.

ya, so, i was looking for something reproducible... this video was 3 years ago... how many days did this last once you broke it the first time and swapped power to your drill?... eh, thumbs down for either not providing enough info, or just simply wasting my time... nothing personal...this is cool, just not useful to anyone but you and other people who are looking for ways to kill time watching videos of stuff they will never do.
@fishinkarts2865 Жыл бұрын
It's all good. It lasted for a while and was still going strong but I found a used 10 sheet shredder that can do thin cardboard for $3 so I'm using that instead now. Also in my defense the title never said anything about a tutorial. It was more of an idea than an actual useful tool.
@guyserenko1354 Жыл бұрын
I made one of these bigger drill and all dont run full blast and drop cardboard into it that how I've broke my setup 3 times now so bake to the drawing board,, but hey no cheaper way to fill garden beds and mulching stuff
