So rare to see a diesel estate being reviewed these days. Such an underrated and practical body style.

Took the ferry to Wales for a holiday in Snowdonia a week ago, returned on Saturday. Diesel estate fully loaded, big roof box, 3 big dogs in the back and a bicycle on the towbar, had to fill up twice over there, no worrying about charging (not available where we stayed). Can't beat it

Thank goodness i saw Bob Flavin and diesel flash the notification light. i love that there's a demand for diesel but do you reckon that the manufacterers are just pushing out what's left of the diesel stock before sales are eventually banned? If you fancy smuggling a few Opels northwards give us a shout, I'll send you 3 euros to cover the fuel costs and just think how many cases of Paddy's you can stash in that boot. Also think of the money saved by not stopping at garages as often, when i fill up i'm usually buying multipacks of lucozade or crisps and stuff like that. The humble diesel with a nice long range and boot and now helps men of our vintage avoid diabetes. Keep up the good work pal, missed watching your diesel vids

The astra has been a great car for decades now and the 1.5 diesels are superb on fuel I have been the grandland lover for ages now but for space the astra is perfect let's keep the diesel cars and I 💯 % agree with Bob great video Bob 👍👊👌

It is a real shame that the WEF and other crime syndicates have decreed that Diesel is bad. I'd drive any diesel rather than the very best battery toy car, that we are being mandated to buy. Great Video Bob. Vauxhall (Opel) never the best diesels, however now they are part of PSA Group, they get a Decent Peugeot Diesel lump. Keep up the great videos.

Interesting Video and your looking well Bob. Historically I've always stayed well clear of Vauxhall (opel] diesels. They GM's were without doubt the most problematic Diesels I've ever came across and general build quality of the vehicles put me off for life. I'm am aware PSA took over in 2018 and it's a Peugeot engine in them now

They never used GM diesel engines, they were crappy Italian diesels from fiat except for the 3.0 v6 cdti which was very solid and made by Isuzu

@zackaboy1236 the 1.9 taxi I used to service was GM. Said inside the engine and on parts. And was without doubt the worst diesel I've ever came across

Nice car but not as good as it's sister car the 308 and unfortunately Opel are not very popular cars in Ireland (From a trade perspective)when it comes to moving them on so residuals will be very poor

Unless your doing over 20k Miles a year and you plan on trading your brand new diesel after 5yrs I would absolutely not buy a Euro 6 Diesel. While AdBlue is a great NOx reducing solution for Euro 6 emissions restrictions. The reality is that the combined EGR, DPF and Adblue SCR emissions systems result in added maintenance bills, long part delays and extortionate repair bills. Diesel carbon will eventually clog your EGR/DPF requiring cleaning and sensor replacements. Your Adblue SCR system will eventually get crystallized requiring new sensors, tank and pump. As many Euro6 diesel owners private and commercial are finding out the hard way. Those costs you have saved in diesel fuel bills v petrol are suddenly wiped out and your vehicle is off the road while the complex troubleshooting begins. Most are driving around blissfully unaware of the complexity and additional costs associated with Euro6. Avoid the headache, if you want an ICE car, spend your hard earned money on a petrol or a hybrid. Your welcome 😉

I've had a diesel for 4 years this month, it was exactly 3 years old when I bought it. I have done 60k kms in that time, so way under your 20k threshold, and had none of the issues you mention, nor did the previous owner. Its a euro 6 compliant car. I make sure to do regular longer journeys, and all is good.

@@terrydelahunt842 That's the key, once a week bring if for a drive that is constantly at least 100km ph for 20 minutes and all is good.
