for the value of money alone i think its worth a 7. Sometimes you want to have a comfortable car/GT that just works. Wich i think this is. Not everyone wants a crazy racer with farts pops and bangs and all that nonsense

The "Hummer" 5 speed manual is actually an Aisin gearbox made by Toyota, that just happened to have been used in the Hummer H3. That's why it's good.

The first Sky aka Opel was launched as a model in the USA. Not bad for a 4 cylinder lil sports car that sold under $27K. The numbers are still impressive today and were really good almost 20 years ago. People are so quick to dismiss a car, but we need to judge it on the merits when produced and what was the purpose of the car at that time… @12:23 the figures are very impressive to be in the middle of the pack for an economy sports car. @14:57 the car was sold with a Limited Slip Differential LSD as an option.

14:59 The GT was sold with a 70% LSD. Other than that a Stage 1 remap is really advisable as the most engines did not have 264HP even brand new. Furthermore, the transmission has a different ratio for gear 3 compared to the the version in the Hummer H2.

I used to own an Opel GT, and everyone loved it because they thought it was a Speedster. However, it was a pain to sell at a reasonable price since people are scared to buy one due to the lack of available parts. For example, the dual-mass flywheel for these engines is like unobtainium.
@Powersproductions130
@Powersproductions130 17 күн бұрын
The 2.0l turbo in this car wasn’t “their own” engine, it was a GM Ecotec unit used in the Pontiac Soltice GXP, the Saturn Sky Redline and the Chevrolet Cobalt SS among other cars.

Opel did most of the engineering for GM's engines under 3l of displacement. So yes, you can consider this 2.0 engine as Opel's own engine, that also happened to be used by other GM brands.

Owning the Saturn equivalent of this, I feel a bit attacked here. The kappa platform is a fantastic platform, just wasn't out at the right time. This felt "cheap" because it was a parts bin car. Many of the electronics and drivetrain components were off the shelf parts GM already had lying around. The car itself is solid to the point it has no frame sag when being lifted by a single point. On top of that, these 2.0L ecotec engines can do up to 400 on a stock block. I push 360 at the crank and can still spin the 9.5 inch rear tires I put on mine. I do agree that the stock exhaust has no substance but there are aftermarket options such as the magnaflow for it which make it sound louder and richer if that's what you're in to.

@SmokyPondFarm 13 күн бұрын
Yes. The Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Opel GT and Daewoo G2X are based on GM's Kappa platform. They were all built in Wilmington, Delaware. The same Aisin 5-speed was used for all Kappa vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. Also, the Opel GT and Daewoo G2X used the same powertrain as the Solstice GXP and the Saturn Sky Redline.

It is poorly made but it don't feel apart above 200+ 😒 I have a Chevy Cobalt SS with the same engine and I drive it 250km/h every time I go on highway. Build quality is similar. I also have a GM stage 1 tune. It's fast and quite reliable. My friend have it tuned too 340KM/520nm on everything stock just with cold air intake, I plan to do it too. You talkin shit about this car but it did hit 260km/h with not much effort even on stock map, 15+year old car. Also saying its loud after 220+ ... Isnt it obvious its soft top 🤦. Not as crappy as you say don't you think?
