This song was so popular when my Dad passed away. I was only 5 when it happened. My mom was left to raise 4 kids on her own. She would bring us to a lake that had a playground and we’d go play while she’d set on the dock and reflect about how she was dealt a crappy card in life a the time. She’d have this song on her boombox and she’d listen to this song and would have tears streaming down. I don’t think she ever knew that I saw her cry. She had every right to. Fast forward almost 40 years now and she successfully raised 4 kids- who in turn have successful careers and made her a grandma of 5 kids. My mom never remarried but she had so much strength to raise us kids with a happy childhood even if our Dad was gone. Thank you for your beautiful rendition of this awesome ballad- you are so talented!

you nailed it!! what a beautiful voice. every time I hear this song my eyes are filled with tears of joy. The lyrics in this song I feel were somehow written for me. when I was a teen just out of high school I started dating a girl (Dani) that was a close friend of the family, we even have pictures together when we were very small children. sadly we only dated approximately two years and went separate ways and led two completely different life's we lost touch and haven't heard or seen each other for 30 plus years. we have recently managed to reunite and I could never be happier, its like we never were apart. I have never felt the love that I do for her from anyone, I truly believe she is my soulmate and that we are meant to be together. the lyrics in the song from lying with her feeling her heart next to mine to now that you have come back to me.....I LOVE YOU so much Danielle.

I'm a family practice P.A., with a lot of patients in the 45-75 year old age bracket. In addition to all the usual medical crap we discuss (diabetes, blood pressure, colonoscopies, etc), I also routinely ask what they do as hobbies. Things like projects, or goals, or fun stuff they are working on. Because mental health is important too. It's sad really. I have soooooo many people that just sit in a chair and smoke and watch tv and do nothing with their lives. And they are so unhappy. I wish they (and even myself) could be more like this. Pursuing a passion with energy and creativity. Keep on singing, my friend. You are an inspiration for us all.
