The fact that Cats and Dogs have been with man since before the fucking Pyramids without man growing bored of them, and that Bears are still revered and feared thousands of years after the Bronze age shows how right Mauler is about dinos. The fact that people to this very second are searching up videos of animals, some which we've lived with or seen regularly for centuries if not millennia, doing funny, silly or amazing things in the middle of an age of wonders a horrors beyond human comprehension further reinforces Maulers point. I bet more people know of and care more about that bear that broke into a house and played with a piano than know of or care about the first completely UAV on UAV battle in history.

I'm from Alberta Canada and there's literally an entire town full of Dinosaur fossils and exhibit's that pulls in enough tourist money to keep growing year after year and helps fund further digs in Alberta, it's called Drumheller and even the location the town rests in looks like its from the past. It's absolutely amazing and people of all ages drive there solely for Dinosaurs.

As for the 'raptors: that was Crichton's bad. When Michael Crichton did the research for his first Jurassic novel, he read the works of a paleontologist who was a bit of a renegade in the field. That paleontologist classified Deinonychus as a larger variant of Velociraptor mongoliensis instead of being a separate species altogether. Thus, Crichton based the height of his Velociraptors on the height of Deinonychus. In comes Spielberg. Spielberg looks at the height of Deinonychus and thinks, "Nah, fuck it. It'll be scarier if it's BIGGER," and we get the Velociraptors from the movie. Fun Fact: a 'raptor as tall as the movie Velociraptors (if not taller) was discovered a mere month after the film was released: the Utahraptor, a giant 'raptor discovered in Utah.

Drinker sayin this about Dinos like humans havent been infatuated with Elephants and co since Ice Age cave paintings. And we havent even seen them cool feather dinos in movies yet. Dinosaur movies have barely even gone the Cryptid route, they could easily pull a Predator and have a single/group of dinos square up against different warriors from Romans to St. George to Mexica Warriors to Contemporaries of Dr. Livingstone. Drinker's right on Zoos though, seeing the animals out and about is by far the superior experience.

Utter L take, go look at a sunset or sunrise, yes it’s the same sun and it happens quite literally every day. Still fucking gorgeous and awe inspiring. People know things like horses exist but guess what, people grow up without them, they can go their whole lives never seeing anything more than a picture. Seeing a one ton animal that could end your life right infront of you, and being able to touch said creature is an infinitely different experience than watching a KZbin video. Its a common mistake that people think the sequel needs to raise the stakes. Mcu has made that mistake and refused to go back to street lvl. Jurrasic park definitely has this problem as well. In the first world one they made it clear their opinion on dinosaurs by saying the people dont care anymore.

I always really liked how The Last Crusade has _lower_ stakes than it's original, Raiders of the Lost Ark. In Raiders it's essentially a super-weapon at stake, but Indy isn't that personally invested; in Crusade it's a goblet of eternal life, not nearly as dangerous; but it's very personal for Indy because he needs it to save his dad. Instead of trying to top the big spectacle of the first one, Crusade was smart to find a _different type_ of stakes to put Indy into. Show us another side of him instead of "the same, but bigger". Another great example, though not really a sequel more of a direct Part 2, is how Kill Bill 1 ends with a giant bloodbath; while Kill Bill 2 ends with a divorce therapy and a quick 1-v-1 specific to their shared history.

As for the islands of Jurassic Park: yes, indigenous people lived on these islands. The TellTale Jurassic Park game actually uses the indigenous people of Isla Nublar as a plot point. As for Isla Sorna, the indigenous people actually featured these islands in their local myths (according to the second novel, The Lost World). They were Las Cinco Muertes, "The Five Deaths" (also known as the "Muertes Archipelago").

You can wow people with dinosaurs still if you do it right. I give to you an example: Top Gun: Maverick. F-18s are just "regular" fighter jets. After we've seen the spectacle of superhero movies, countless Star Wars sequels in theory fighter jets are vanilla. But somehow they made people wowed by just real life fighter jets simply because they made a well written story.

I see that IP mining of my beloved 90's has began for good - they try it with "X-files", they tried with "Independence Day", they will try it "Silence of the lambs" with forgettable Clarice show produced by that awful Alex Kurtzman, they will try it with "Tomb Rider" and now they will try it Buffy... Strange that they try this considering that only successful reboots/remakes of 90's IP's were "Loin King" and "Jurassic Park" - rest of them crushed and burned. As a 90's I'm only happy that decade I grew up in don't have as many IP's as the 80's... What's next ; "Stargate", "Mask" ? The Thing is too small, that's why it looks so off. In the comics he was often depicted as tall as the Hulk, and they would often fight to a stalemate. Whereas here he's only slightly taller than Reed, it just looks like the scale is off. OG MCU Hulk would crush him. If you relax your eyes in that final shot, he looks like a regular dude. It seems more like they based him on the 2005 film than the comics. His costume looks terrible too. I think Dark Hour was misunderstanding the issue with his voice. It's not the accent that anybody has a problem with, as he said it's spot on. It's the pitch, it's way too high. He sounds exactly like the actor so it's hard not to see him standing there saying those lines with an off-putting CG model in his place. I don't buy his presence in the trailer whatsoever. I really don't like how they did it. Also, Drinker not liking zoos explains that entire interaction. Who the fuck wouldn't go to Jurassic Park if it existed? That shit would be more popular than Disney, which he probably thinks is shit too 😂 and I would probably agree to be fair, but I know it makes a shit tonne of money from people who don't.

I think what nerds underestimate is how simple normies are... they fell in love with mcu because it's all connected.. if you reboot or recast everyone, normies will lose interest. It'll never have had the buzz that the mcu achieved. All they needed to do, was continue to have some good strong writing, and they didn't. That's why it bombed.

For the argument on whether dinosaurs would be boring because people are used to them...I dunno: this is something I found strange in the first Jurassic World movie: people see, for example, giraffes and elephants in documentaries a lot, but they still go and see them in zoos, safaris, and other places. They're still as majestic, if not moreso, in person than on the other side of a screen. Edit: side note, I like how Mr. H is giving Rebirth the benefit of the doubt. I agree with him, I want the film to be good too.
