With Baggage Claim talking about She-Hulk at the start, I had a girl years ago tried to push me against a wall to kiss me, and she startled me enough that I pushed her off and was ready to throw a punch at her, because I instinctively thought she was about to attack me. The reason she did it was because she saw a woman on a soap opera do it to a guy, and the guy supposedly loved it, so she thought she was being sexy. I thought she was starting a fight. As it turns out, this kind of social programming has been going on for years, it just never used to be as blatant. From a guys perspective, take a look at Friends, and how much of a simp Ross was with Rachel, but he got her in the end. That was social programming, tell guys that if you want the hot girl, you should simp hard (and that is a huge turn off for women in the real world). They say art imitates life, but I would say life imitates art far more, especially when people are young and impressionable. They will follow what they see on TV, and it never works for them, because what works in real life and what happens on fictional TV shows are two very different things. Back then, it didn't look deliberate, but these days, it really does, which makes me wonder how much of media over the past 60 years has been intentional social programming (movies like The Stepford Wives to promote feminism and divorce etc).
@ishowspeedo24112 жыл бұрын

@Zara-Bari2 жыл бұрын
I thought Stepford Wives was pretty blatantly about every single man not only being evil, but evil in the exact same way. Every man in that movie has the precise same motivation and morals and is functionally the same person. The women were also really annoying creatures, but I believe I was supposed to be rooting for them and think they were nuanced individuals or something.

I so wanted Ross to find a better woman because he was actually kind of a good guy, most of the time, and Rachel was a total hobag. Totally true, there has been propaganda against men, the family unit and respect to fathers. The Handmaid's Tale is a prime example of the women are victims message. If Wandavision had ended with anything other than a magic laser battle and a total moral absolution of Wanda it could have been fun overall. Imagine if it had ended with Agatha as the hero who breaks Wanda out of her delusions, and says that she will help Wanda control her powers. I was so sure that was what things were heading towards, that the point was going to be that Wanda did something evil because she couldn't control her powers, and that her character would go develop under the training of a more powerful magic user. Could have been a good transition over to a new phase. Instead....
@garywintle80232 жыл бұрын
Isn't the whole point that Chthon is the author of Wanda's story? Chthon states that he forged Wanda into the Scarlet Witch in the Darkhold. He names her Scarlet Witch (because naming people gives him power over them). He wrote an entire chapter about her because he is personally obsessed with her. Chthon has been poisoning Agatha's mind for 300 years via the Darkhold. Agatha is a puppet. Agatha only found Wanda because Chthon, via the Darkhold, wanted Agatha, his puppet, to bring the Darkhold to Wanda. She murdered her own mother and her coven, while under Chthon's manipulation. Strange should have no idea what magic Wanda is using, because he has zero knowledge of chaos magic, as it is Chthon's power. At no point in MoM is It's amazing that Wong knows that Chthon created the Darkhold, yet is so stupid, he doesn't ask himself why Chthon would make a big statue of Wanda with Chthon's symbol (a horned head) directly above it. After Wanda destroys the Darkhold, Doctor Strange proves he is equally thick by not figuring that Wanda must be Chthon's avatar. Not connecting Chthon to Wanda requires a very special kind of stupid. If you know who wrote the Darkhold, you should have the brains to suspect he is up to something. WandaVision sets up Wanda vs Chthon, but then MoM makes Wanda's entire character about the stupid kids, because Raimi and Waldron know nothing about Wanda. Raimi's pig ignorance and arrogance, his contempt for these characters as he assassinated them, makes him worse than Rian Johnson, as Raimi was far more deliberate and far more cynical.

People that think they’re better than everyone else will always consider themselves correct and therefor never feel as though they need to apologize for anything, because they view that as nothing but pure weakness and not an opportunity for growth. We don’t relate because the characters aren’t vulnerable like real people. They’re all superheroes and now it’s just dumb.

I'd love to see Baggage make a video with this sentence at 42:41.

Most of the audience likes to see intelligent characters. Where their actions are thought out expecting a certain result, that they do not make mistakes, that their actions have consequences on the world they live in and the rest of the characters and that fortuitous events do not occur just so that the story has drama

My favourite story of all time is 'Count of Monte Cristo'. It's like a clockwork. These shows are much more like a dumpster fire.

I love watching these now and see how much they predict and get correctly. Like predicting RDJ will come back, but they didn’t know he would come back as DOOM

I believe House of Dragons is doing so well compared to Rings of Power is that one is trying to remain within the framework of that worlds setting and the other isnt. Trying to remain within the groundwork laid out by Martin.

Am I seriously the only one who noticed Chris Pratt doing a Brooklyn accent? Not only that, am I the only one who remembers both that Mario is a Brooklyn raised Italian-American and also that he originally had a Brooklyn accent in the Super Mario Bros Super Show????

Daredevil on Netflix was fantastic...but who is this weird Dopple-Devil in She-Hulk? As good as Charlie Cox is (he was awesome in Boardwalk Empire too) but this wasn't the Daredevil I grew to know over three seasons of DD and one of Defenders..

Yeah, glad you brought this up. Boromir manly man son of Gondor, blubbering baby when Galadriel looks at him. She literally invades the mind of anybody around her if she wants to. But these showrunners decided wearing plate armor and having a sword was "stronger"? Unbelievable.

the part when Galadirel is offered the ring by frodo and she goes all spooky dark lady even years after seeing it as a child It STILL makes me Cringe and it just hits some "mother is angry hide under your bed" levels of scary with me "In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me, and despair!" makes me cower in ways I didn't realize I still did
