Like having a scene of Galdriel fighting and giving them tips just to show how good she is - Fine or even having Elendil do the same and have those 2 fight each other... but to have galadriel walk up and say "Guys to kill something you need to stab it with the pointy end" and they all act like this is something they have never heard before is insane to me xD. Why waste time on fight choreography or sword coaching for glorified training dummies?

Sauron and the One Ring had only very limited 'access' to the three Elven rings (otherwise, their bearers would have been far more corrupted while Sauron was wearing the One Ring, pretty much like the dwarves and humans were), exactly because the Three were forged in secret without Sauron knowing about them (until he put on the One). So while yeah, there was _some_ aspect of the "creation method" that always corrupted them, Sauron's direct part in creating the various rings was far more "important" to how much control he would have later.

Leaks do happen, though rarely, and are taken seriously. New York's first power plant opened in 1882, steam from clean water greatly reduced the amount of soot created by individual coal-burning furnaces (which were the primary source of heat at the time) and remains as an evironmentally friendly source of energy. Besides the obvious reason? (to heat and cool buildings), Steam plays a role in the sanitization of hospital equipment, the dry-cleaning industry, and the humidification process for works of art in museums.

Some lore regarding the Rings: Each Ring of power was created to give the bearer certain traits, like bravery or leadership or magic. That's why Annatar (Sauron's true disguise) helped create them and gave them to the major leaders of the age. When he forged the One Ring it was called the Ring of Command, giving him control over all of the other Rings he had made. The Elven rings were forged last after Celebrimbor became suspicious of Annatar's true intentions, and in secret so that Sauron couldn't corrupt the Rings like what happened to the Ringwraiths. This is why I was so upset with the whole "Elves need mithril or they're going to die" thing that ROP did. It broke the entire lore of the Silmarils, the Elves and their immortality, their relationship with the Dwarves, and why they needed to make the Rings. Halbrand's Rings aren't rare and powerful artifacts. They weren't given by a benevolent smith as a token of friendship that later betrays, kills, and enslaves a majority of Middle-Earth.

In Tolkien, the three rings weren't touched directly by Sauron, so he doesn't have as much control over them and they aren't corrupted like the others. When Sauron created the One Ring the wearers of the three heard the voice of Sauron and realized who he was. They then took off the rings and hid them from him. When the One Ring was cut from Sauron they were able to use the three rings to preserve their realms from decay, but if he had gotten the One Ring back he would have been able to control them again. When the One was destroyed, the three lost their power and the Elf realms like Lothlorien were subject to decay.

Many people dislike Finrod's admonition to Gal'lad'rielle that you need to touch the darkness in order to know the light, but that one line resonates with me. While I wouldn't wish the wRongs of Power on anyone, it has definitely enhanced my love for Tolkien's true work.

You know, the concept is interesting and thought provoking. The delivery in the show is a bit clunky and cringe. There is a similar idea in the Bible in the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. In order to know both good and evil, they had to taste of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. But the tree was forbidden to them. So really in order to understand good and evil they had to disobey God and eat from the forbidden tree.

Unfortunately I know many Tolkien fans who love the show and are giving it so much praise. It bothers me to no end. Of the 12 people I know who watched the show, only one hated it. The rest rest are enjoying it and look forward to Season 2. They're so so blind.

A friend of mine (who's read TLOTR only, although that's not a crucial point) thinks TRoP is terrific. He also thinks very highly indeed of a number of other shows which are arguably objectively vastly superior to TRoP. What I can't understand is why TRoP is being given such a pass by people whose critical faculties are otherwise quite sound.

This had to be the most comical scene between Galadriel and Sauron: Sauron: "Galadriel! There's too much butter on these trays" Galariel: "K?" Sauron: "There's too much butter ON THESE TRAYS" Galariel: "Oh no no no Mr. Sauron. It's not (on these trays).... it's uno, dos, tres."

I liked the part where Galadriel employs the Harfoots, instead of the Dwarves as she was told by Miriel, to install a door in a wall and they put it into a load bearing wall without installing a steel girder above the door frame.

Many comments in Tolkein Twitter about how the show may be awful but it has led a lot of people to take up the books... If everybody was in the pub on a sunny day and someone opened there Sphincter and dropped sufficient maloderous feculence to persuade everyone to take their beer into the glorious sunshine. The suggestion is that we should pin a medal on the sphincter for it's public service...

SO I THOUGHT, correct me if I'm wrong, that Sauron had no influence over the elven rings because Celebrimbor made them alone as a deterrent once he realized the true purpose of the other rings. Am I remembering this falsely?
