This movie could be wayyy better (but still won’t be a good movie) if they acknowledge Wanda as straight up evil the same way they did with Thanos. I mean, Thanos is a bad guy. Everyone knows that but the reason he’s a fan favorite because his reasoning, albeit delusional, is compelling and he has the unmatched conviction for his cause. Yet as compelling as he is, the Avengers still consider him as evil (as it should be). Wanda, on the other hand, did all this for her own selfish reason. Which is okay if people consider what she did as wrong and actively tried to stop her for real but what we got is that the Avengers keep telling us that she did the “right thing” while the people who actually called out her actions are considered as “villains” like Hayward and Agatha Harkness (whom I still don’t know how she is evil. She killed the witches who attacked her first so it’s self defense and she killed a fake dog).
@libertyprime69322 жыл бұрын
And Thanos is LESS evil than Wanda, Thanos turns the Guardians into spaghetti to get away from them, then turns them back. Wanda turns people into spaghetti then blows their head apart. I do agree that they need to simplify these plots. I think using the 'multiverse' as the basis for phase 4 was a mistake, it requires like savant level of intelligence to lay it out in a sensible manner, and that level of writing is just not there. I miss Tony Stark. RDJs acting grounded alot of this stuff, he had a casual manner that made all this craziness believable. I understand he didn't wanna do the role anymore, but Feige could at least have worked harder to convince him to have a cameo or just, some kinda presence (as maybe AI Stark)
@scottphillips86072 жыл бұрын
I disagree, it requires idiot level intelligence to manage. Multiverse is like time travel in writing - it should only ever be a vehicle for setting up a story, not mechanic in it. It's great for setting up a story like "what if Superman took over the world," but that's where it should end. Solutions to problems should never happen through the multiverse. The problem is that the concept itself starts to break down logically extremely quickly. If you say there's an infinite number of universes each being a little different that makes all actions taken by a chacter have a net value of 0, and if you say there are a limited number you're left with having to explain why infinity isn't infinite. If your explanation is that "this specific event created one," that begs the question of why the other universe wouldn't have a different but similar event that creates another. And even worse, if you bring time travel in it becomes impossible to justify how that never happened in your second multiverse without simply saying "everyone died before that could happen." But then, *everyone* died? All of the apparently infinite races of aliens didn't create a multiverse before they died? What about ancient extinct alien species? And it goes on and on. Like I said, multiverse is a great way to pose specific "what-ifs" or hard moral questions, but as a mechanic in universe, they are the death of writing.
@gman74972 жыл бұрын
@@scottphillips8607 that's kinda what I meant. If you just use it as a means of creating a story it's fine. I thought the 'What If' series was a cool concept in theory, just peeking into an alternative reality to see how things COULD'VE happened if circumstances were changed. But trying to tie it into the mainline story will create nothing but problems for all the reasons you brought up.
@mahoutsuguy8632 жыл бұрын
@@gman7497 even then they messed up the premise of what if as many of the universes shown in that series werent actually detailing what little differences would change things on a grander scale....all sorts of things were different that shouldnt have been. And yes, the multiverse is infinite but when you sell a show on the idea that we'll be seeing the familiar diverted for an alternative and then you deliver mostly whatever nonsense you wanted, its disappointing. A few of those eps were good though and couldnt been a basis for a great movie over what we got here.
@gman74972 жыл бұрын
@@mahoutsuguy863 I feel like they really missed an opportunity to make the episodes tonally different from the main MCU, and yeah as you stated really be creative and mess with origins and world building. Like rather than the Captain Carter episode rehashing First Avenger's plot they could have done something crazy, like the Americans being the antagonists and maybe having CC fight an evil Steve Rogers with the proto Iron man suit. The Zombies episode could have been truly horrifying but instead it used the normal MCU tongue in cheek humor. And the Thor episode basically was mainline Thor, just maybe like 15% more himbo in a plot that was kinda pointless and didn't explore anything of consequence.
@MALICEM122 жыл бұрын
His contract is over, get over it. The legacy characters aren't coming back and that's honestly better as it would ruin their arc and ending if they did. @@skyhunter2816 did you watch the film? We literally see an alternate world where they defeat Thanos on Titan
@sippinlosses2 жыл бұрын
@@bloodspittingspartan5002 it implies that he saw all the ALTERNATE WORLDS where they did win, when he did his time dream shit in infinity war. He choose to lie and shit on Tony tho, because it was the safest way for the universe, despite destroying the infinity stones. THAT'S why we get the scene where his buddy asks "was it the only way?". The MCU universe has a darkhold, and he could've gotten it 🤷♂️, it's right in some small town in New Jersey less than 2 hours away probably from NY. This shit is plot hole city. So maybe you, and the other guy should rewatch the movie.

With the glass in the shoes thing, Ethan Hawke’s character really briefly mentions in the final episode about “trying to atone” because he knows his scales don’t balance or whatever. But I bet about 4% of the audience was still paying attention at the point anyway.

I don't hate the Hela thing from Ragnarok. The movie clearly establishes she was Odin's most powerful daughter/general and she liked war too much and was banished when the 7 realms were brought to peace. Thor came after her and didn't know about her so he fought in far less hostile times than she did. So I have no issue with her being stronger and a better fighter than he was. It's just every other time they do the stronk whaman they never set it up properly.

There are a lot of minor characters in Marvel that would make good standalone movies such As Sleepwalker & Darkhawk . You could do a Sub-Mariner solo movie or an Invaders movie, a Captain Britain or Union Jack movie. How about a Shamrock and Squirrel girl movie?

I wonder if part of the success of The Northman is it's the stripped down, historically accurate(-ish) origin of Shakespear's Hamlet. Years ago, I got a DVD of Prince of Jutland (with Gabriel Byrne and Christian Bale) which was also a Hamlet base ... and that was surprisingly good!
@NathanCassidy7212 жыл бұрын
I think it has more to do with the fact that it’s a niche movie rather than a broad mass market movie. It’s a Robert Egbert film, who gained some notoriety from The Lighthouse among the independent films audience. It’s obvious that he tried to make the setting historically accurate, piquing the interest of the historical community. And it’s clearly a one-and-done original movie which will appeal to the growing number of people sick of franchises and reboots. And it’s clearly focused on telling a good story rather than pandering to woke ideology. It’s clearly appealing to a niche that is actively being ignored by Hollywood and sucking up the money they are leaving on the table.

It IS a LITTLE odd that white vision didn't show up AT ALL in movie... I thought they "loved each other".... But she goes on a KILLING spree and he's nowhere around? I also wonder why they needed america to come get them in the dying world (the one that doc used the darkhold in to puppeteer the body) I mean his sling ring could have gotten there... The other doctor strange said he'd be killing multiple dr. stranges so apparently he COULD leave... Just apparently didn't... (and even in main continuity he used a spell that put all sorts of cracks in the multiverse anyway).

No, everything in our modern society was built of of the mythology of WWII. They will not turn their back on the canon that their power stems from. They are where they are because of WWII, not in spite of it. The allied WWII narrative that you are thinking of right now is the thing they used to get power for decades. It serves them, not you.
