If you listen closely to how Connie describes her Lisa costume when she's in the costume shop, there are some early hints that the Connie who we see walk out of there isn't real. You picked up on one of the clues yourself with the tunic. When Real Connie enters the shop, she talks about how it has Lisa's childhood tunic, but asks Steven if he thought that the tunic was red. Steven says yes, because it's supposed to be the color of the setting sun. But Connie corrects him and says that the sun sets black over the mines. Fake Connie comes out wearing the incorrect red tunic but when we see the real Connie later, she has a black tunic on. Real Connie also talks about wanting to have Lisa's iron sword. Fake Connie comes out without any sword but when we see the real Connie later, she has one (that she ends up using to great effect). And Real Connie also mentions that she always liked Lisa's dragon whisker boots. Fake Connie doesn't seem to be wearing boots, whereas the Real Connie we see later clearly is. All of these discrepancies between what Real Connie described and what Fake Connie was wearing were nice details that made the twist possible to guess (although almost no one ever does). Good on you for noticing the tunic thing.

the order i watch season 1 in on rewatch is 47 - Shirt Club 48 - Story for Steven 49 - The Message 50 - Political Power 51 - The Return 52 - Jail Break idk how they have it on the streaming service you watch it on but i’m pretty sure this is the correct way to watch it, that’s how it aired on Cartoon Network originally

Fun fact: there are actually steven universe video games that are canon to the series! It’s called the “light” series! One for season 1, for season 3 and for after season 5! If you ever want to play them, then start with attack the light. At this point of the series there’s no spoilers for you in it, but don’t play the others until your further in.

Rose's Scabbard was combined with The Message, Political Power, The Return and Jailbreak to form the first StevenBomb (five new episodes shown Mon-Fri in one week rather than over the course of five or more weeks). This tightened up the final arc of season one and enhanced the ominous tension building for the season finale. Open Book, Shirt Club and Story For Steven weren't really linked to the events of the finale and so were held over for early season two. Steven may have come to like the books almost as much as Connie, but for different reasons. Connie was more interested in anti-authoritarian rebel adventures while Steven's primary interest lay with Lisa and Archimicarus and their growing relationship. Steven was pleased with how the series ended, while Connie was dissatisfied because that relationship was at best of secondary importance. Whether this was intended by the Crewniverse or not, Open Book foreshadows a battle between allies with conflicting causes and their goals.

The reason why it's out of order is because the crossover was supposed to air in season 1, but Cartoon Network wanted to air the last few episodes leading up to the season finale all in one week, so the crossover episode was moved to season 2.

I always thought of Rose's room like It was a person or better said a Gem. We learned thanks to Lapis that Gems can actually be turned into objects however they are still inside and have their own thoughts and ideas. Idk

07:04 I don't really like wings all that much anyway 🤔 On Steven liking Connie, it kinda feels like Steven enjoying the love story aspect of Familiar Familiar is kinda like a representation of his crush on Connie too, there was def some parallels about that here I also liked how they generally play with their contrasting opinions on the book's ending- like Connie def has a point about pressure being put on any work that becomes too openly "political" (literalky Steven Universe itself got in hot water with the execs over such things on many occasions), but it's also not as simple as Steven just being completely oblivious to the books themes, and he may in fact have picked up on an underlying romance sub-plot that Connie couldn't see herself But in the end it *is* just a book as Connie says, so they can talk about it easily and all
