Some couples consider themselves 'open' even if they're monogamous because they realize that at any point they 'could' become poly if one person feels the need to involve themselves with someone else. I found that interesting.

Very interesting topic and commentary. Not sure what percentage of people in open relationships are in it due to this higher level outlook on love vs those who are just satisfying their libido and penchant to experience change and new things. I totally get that true love is not about possessing another; though wouldn't then the ultimate relationship be with just yourself --if we are to define love at the next level , of the spirit ? Without being diseased in wanting to possess another, I see relationships as pointless---just have friends with benefits..

Thanks for this beautiful explanation :-) Times are surely changing! What I do realize is that the older I get, and the more disappointments I had in past relationships. dark nights of the soul, broken heart and so forth, the more I'm wondering, if conventional relationships even work where both partners are staying equally happy?! On the other hand I cannot see myself being in an open relationship for that my whole inner being cringes when imagining that my partner is f@cking around with all kinds of other women, let alone the aura anyone takes in from others every time they are in such a bond of ecstasy. You take-on their pain-body too, and those who are also on the spiritual path should know that. So in this sense, and when especially women could deal with it, it might set a being free from the pain of being cheated upon sexually. I truly believe that men have an easier time to accept and practice open relationships, after all they won't feel forcefully restricted to just being with one woman only, which most men are dreading anyway. For most women it's going to be hard to engage, because by nature women are looking for security, something more conventional due to the fact that they bear children, and then it's absolutely vital for a women to have a loyal and supporting men on her side and not 'off on the road for the next adventure' leaving her and the kids behind, while she has all the responsibility and cannot really go to work and be at home at the same time, unless she is lucky to being able to work from home, while making an adequate income to support her kids and herself. I don't see it! ... I also find it very damaging for infants and small toddlers to being shoved off to some impersonal day-care, where there is no love, no physical bonding to the mother, but basically it's more like a rest-stop that cannot be called a real home! I have my Uranus conj. my Pluto on the IC in the 4th in Virgo. My Moon trines this conjunction in TAU - 11th house, and the Moon is also the ruler of my rising sign - CAN, while my Jupiter is also still in the 1st right at the cusp to the 2nd, but in LEO. So "No', such a totally unconventional 'open relationship' would not be for me although I do believe that two partners should give each other enough space to be themselves and to live out their own dreams, and to have a 'sacred space' in the home where one can retreat to spend alone time. But when it comes to the sexual department? ... It's an absolute "No!" for me.

I do have saturn opposite moon....but to me that was a journey of the soul becoming more ‘free of the fear of judgement maybe?’ Since my parents, friends and family totally do not understand this way of loving is possible. Such a good video. I think the key thing to note is that our parenting is still often attachment based. It's the model for all our future relationships, hence people grow up connecting attachment with security and safety. I'm coming from a very Pluto heavy chart, so I understand it on a soul level. But I can see how we all grow up with this too heavily in our culture - we aren't taught to hold anything lightly because on an evolutionary, psychological and emotional level it feels like a risk of death.

My 11 th house has venus mars and mercury and my Jupiter and uranus are conjunct. But I still have plutonic things going on as I am obsessive. I feel thorn between attachment and space. I feel like I'm still too insecure to be fine in an open relationship.

I have a Moon in Aquarius conjunct Uranus. also my Venus squares my Moon. I think I like the idea of an open relationship but i do know there is a funneling effect of my deepest care towards one individual when that relationship arises. Even if i may share experiences with many others and i value that diversity and flexibility, i think for me my "love" is still apparent in who i choose-- ONE person at a time. I do not sit well with the concept of Polyamory but Open Relationship vibrationally suits my tastes. I am loyally private as much as i am loosely open in these things. I can want and care for someone to whatever extent but the distance and space to grow is my highest value regardless what i selfishly may want from an individual. As you explained, it is self wholeness to be practiced if you really want to commit well to something that has "less" tight of conditions. What you are really committing to is yourself.. your own happiness, expansion and freedom and you allow others that too.

I've noticed alot of people I know that are open or poly have mars in an air sign (Aquarius, libra, and Gemini). And also heavy Aquarius and 11th house aspects. I have mars in Libra. Moon in Libra 11th house. Mars square Uranus. Venus in the 9th and Jupiter in the 9th. Moon trine Uranus. And I identify as polyamorous.

Wow I've never heard the Uranus/Jupiter easy natal aspects described and as a Jupiter quintile Uranus I related to it soo much. I'm very Platonic so even though my Venus and Sun are in Aquarius they are both square Pluto. I am much more in inclined toward the more dangerous relationships. I definitely try to "catch" the tadpole! Lol I did, however, completely relate to not wantingto be free of past belief systems. I swear I feel like I owe you a fee for the shrinking you give me with some of your vids. ;-p

I’ve been in 2 long term relationships my first was 6 years and my second over a decade. Plutonic relationships are suffocating and garner illusions. Eventually things get sick and even dangerous bc of the obsessive control factor. I think open relationships take way more trust and character within the self where plutonic relationships forcefully places unrealistic trust in others, the case in my experience.

Wonderful video! It spoke directly to my experience and values in open relationships, I am grateful to hear that topic discussed under a fair and positive light. For me, real security in a relationship comes from letting the other person be fully themselves and fully free to move about, and then realizing they are still here sharing their love and passion for life with me. Out of curiosity, I just looked at the composite chart of me and my current partner ( fully open relationship for almost 2 years now, going smooth). We have sun conjunct venus and mercury in the 11th house (all trine to Saturn as well). And Uranus and Jupiter right on the ascendant! There's also Pluto opposite Moon in the mix, but I haven't felt the emotional intensity or heaviness of it, just a nice feeling of emotional attunement and being important and precious to each other. I have Uranus in the first house aspecting my moon, venus, mercury and mars. My partner has Uranus perfectly conjunct is Sun and opposing his moon, he also has moon conjunct Saturn.

open relationships make sense 100% but more in first world countries or between well off individuals because they have all their needs met and they dont have to unite as a team to get out of bad situations like in 3rd world countries the way you describe it and as i understand is that people that are complete all needs met can hang out without attachment which makes sense but not all people have all basic needs met so some unite to get out of problems and that needs more commitment usually i guess it could work too but sometimes people like control and support because they have many variables and problems as to add possible unreliability from partner because she is with another man at the moment hahahah i think open relationships makes sense more like a first world problem people that are above basic survival and are able to open their mind and enjoy life on a more holistic level but not all people are at this level yet there are tribes that also have OR but its centered in hunters that are able to sustain multiple females things like that this uranus thing is more of a next level humanity maybe when robots do all the work and humans get to enjoy life different similar to wall e but with open relationships hahaha but i wish i didnt had saturn in 7th house then i would understand better

well, ive been trying open relationships for two years from now, and i am quite satisfied with it, despite my chart may say about it. I guess I could be called a plutonian with pluto conjunct mars in the ascendant, in Scorpio, plus venus in scorpio plus a lot of pluto contacts. But I have sun and mercury in Libra in the 11th house, and a Gemini moon. I think the relationships I have tend to pluto's need for intimacy in quantity and its need for drama, at the same time control is not an issue, so I can relax a lot more. Plus i am into new things with my gemini/aquarius, and my way of thinking is progressive. Open relationships is an ideal I believe in (jupiter in first house) as the most fair (libra?) kind of relationship there is. Of course ive faced a lot of issues with different people I met, not everyone is ready for it, some suddenly want a serious relationship. But I liked how everything changes and those people come and go, while some stay. Its complicated (pluto) but very rewarding as well.

Nope. The traditional lord, and co ruler lord of my 8th House are both strongly emphasized in my chart, with a few very tight Pluto aspects to very sensitive/receptive points in my chart, Scorpio IC, and I've been in an open relationship for about 8, out of 15 years years now. While Pluto, 8th House, and Scorpio all can and often do relate to strong attachment issues and tendencies, there is also the side of facing fears, delving into taboos, and transformation. Also, these symbols are NOT synonymous with each other--there are definite differences. There is a trend in modern astrology to overly synonynmize related, but different symbols. This is a more recent development in astrology in it's long history. Edgar Cayce called Pluto that of "consciousness". Odd to refer to it in such a broad and general way, but more than any other Planet, I view Pluto as more of a process than a range of characteristics or set tone or color range. In these readings, Pluto when strong in a person's chart, could indicate great selfishness, or great spiritual transcendence. In my own personal experience with looking at others and self's chart, I've come to view Pluto and it's expression, as not only highly dependent on one's will (which any area of astrology is), but also highly dependent on the relative proportion and strength of expanded/fast vibratory symbols to limited/slower vibratory symbols. For example, if Saturn, Mars, Moon, and/or Mercury are the strongest other Planets besides Pluto, chances are, you'll see Pluto expressed in the non constructive and very destructive kind of way. If Sun, Jupiter, and/or Neptune are the strongest, chances are, Pluto will be expressed in the constructive way. Though, in either case, freewill is always the "wild card" that no one can predict, and the chart cannot show. In the latter case, Pluto represents becoming conscious of the unconscious, so that growth and transformation can occur. Hence why Cayce's guidance referred to Pluto as that of "consciousness". Literally "self awareness" as it relates to the larger consciousness system--including one's sub and super conscious levels, as well as one's shadow, the shadow of others, and the collective shadow.

Pluto also relates to Kundalini energy/process. It's actually not hard to awaken Kundalini in the body, but it's not advised in most cases. If Kundalini is activated in a body that has a lot of blocks, and little attunement to very expanded levels of consciousness within (like unconditional, universal Love), but most focus on materialistic and/or ego related states, then Kundalini will AMPLIFY all of that. This can lead to a body that runs amok in it's destructiveness in relation to others and self. You see this in a percentage of "Gurus". Off the chart sex drives, off the chart ego, manipulation, control, etc. Some may have some "abilities", but such abilities do not necessarily denote spiritual attunement. Many poltergeist cases are facilitated or even completely caused by children going through puberty and having different glands become super charged. (Course, some do involve actual folks stuck in the "borderland" or interdimensions aka "ghosts"). Kundalini, like Pluto in this sense, are both raw, neutral, but powerful energies that amplify whatever is predominant within self, and both are very related to the sex drive in the body. Kundalini is connected to the sex glands in the body--more specifically the leydig cells within/slightly above the testes or ovaries. It will do vice versa is a very spiritually attuned body. In that case, it has a purifying, strengthening, enlivening, and balancing effect.

A couple of data points relating to this topic as my partner and I are in an open relationship. My strongest Planets in order are Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, and Venus. I have Aqua Venus in the 7th almost exactly trine Libra Pluto in 3rd and sextile Sag Neptune in 5th and fairly closely square Scorp Uranus in 4th. Venus rules my Moon and MC. The "lord" of my 11th, Mercury, is conjunct Sun, lord of the 1st. Happen to have Jupiter quintile Uranus, and Pisces S. Node in the 7th. (as an aside, self is very intuitive for a male). Partner is very Venusian and Aquarian (also fairly Solar and Jupiterian). Aqua Sun, Venus, S. Node, and her Cap Rising is closely cusping Aqua and the Asc point is conjunct the Aqua Venus. Uranus is in the 10th. She has a Mercury Mars conjunction in Pisces. I feel that Jupiter, Neptune, Sagittarius, and to a lesser extent Pisces are also symbols that can be related the open relationships, and not just Uranus and Aquarius. For the first 7 years of the relationship, we were completely monogamous--neither of us ever cheated, though a guy kissed her one time. But we were always pretty communicative, honest, and direct with each other, and being secure in the relationship, we didn't have a problem with saying things like, I find her or I find him attractive, etc. At the 7 yr point, we moved apart, for what we thought would be somewhat temporarily (planning a year), because of job situations. We talked about trying the open thing during that time. We still saw each other every weekend, because we only lived a couple hours apart. A few years later, we moved back in with each other, and continued it, but neither of us puts much energy into it. Dating takes a certain amount of time and energy that usually we don't want to spend on, but we have the option. As a man, unless you have an unusually large member, are rich, and/or are unusually attractive--it's rather hard to find women that are open to being with someone who is already in a relationship. Not near as hard for a woman. I have mixed feelings about open relationships, or that I'm a bit judgmental (in an emotionally detached, impersonal way) of some of the other open people that we have met. Some have struck me as way too sex obsessed. I'm not into that. When my male hormones are not influencing me, I feel that sex should only come after there is a deeper and more holistic connection--though there is no time range on that (it could happen in a day or less, depending on how intuitive the people are), but rather, it's not about "hooking up" to satisfy only body urges, but more about a meeting of Souls, minds, and then bodies.

I should add a couple other things to the above: Core partner and I have been together for 15+ years and are one of the more consistently joyful and happy couples we have met (though wasn't always that way, first couple years were definitely challenging, but we were young and less mature). I seem to fit some of the descriptions as talked about in the video. I had a bit of a spiritual awakening around age 13, where I started intensely exploring and searching within spirituality and metaphysics (including astrology). But I didn't really start deeply and holistically working on myself until about age 20/21 (my Mom's death was a strong catalyst), and then later at 28 or so. I've been through some major transformations in life, and am very different than I was during most of my childhood years. When I was younger, could never have been in an open relationship, as I had far, far too much insecurity and fear within me. I was much more Saturnian, Lunar, negatively Uranian (was an extremist), and Scorpionic through much of my childhood and first couple years of adulthood. I'm now much, much lighter, and better described by Jupiter, Sun, Neptune, positive Venus and Uranus. Or in other words, I've worked a lot on ego and shadow aspects. I don't think self will ever be completely free of all ego, as long as I'm connected to a human body, and I don't think anyone else can be while connected to a human body, but generally I'm pretty good at letting go and letting Source so to speak when it's helpful and/or necessary. I'm fairly, consistently attuned to unconditional, universal Love. That kind of Love is my ideal, my "religion", the very core of what self is about and is trying most to grow towards. I really, really want to merge, fully consciously with Source. That's become the most important thing to self.

I have my 9th house ruled by jupiter and then jupiter perfectly conjunct my ascendant. i also have sun conjunct mars in aquarius in the 8th house. A lot of easy stepping around words. I assume as not to "offend" people who are in these so called, happy open relationships. This Logos is biased toward the monogamous mating and not toward the poly...sorry. I do not feel it is right to judge another's desire to do and be as they wish. The truth is that while there will be more ppl on the scene with polygamous desires, this does not indicate we are moving away from monogamous mating but rather toward people who may be fearful of committing to just one person or who does not want to feel owned by another and free to do as it wishes concerning sex, sexual partnering. There. I said it. There is nothing incorrect in voicing ones ideas bc we are afraid of others not being able to handle idea and the e pressing of that idea. This topic is a "preference" and we should think about how incredibly difficult it is to find a "preference" in a birth chart.
