The 1st day of the season is hear and it did not disappoint, in this video i am lure fishing for perch and zander on a large river, using a texas rig and drop shot rig to catch some big perch and some decent zander

Great video, looked like you had a good opening day, for myself I found the fishing a bit more difficult then expected but still enjoyed being out, have a good one 👍
@luresonly2 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud, tbh I found it hard too, the fishing was actually pretty slow, some of the zander had over an hour between them, not that I can complain with the fish caught but they didn't come easy

Small small zanders bro are there no bigger ones .......
@luresonly2 жыл бұрын
I had an 80 a few days ago, the big ones are tough this time of year, get plenty in the winter when they settle in certain spots

I fish Oxford as I'm a local, I've only ever hooked 2 zander and caught 1, we've seen a few more recently to be fair. Mate of mine caught a 6lber the other week, I know a couple lads who keep things on the hush and they caught 17lb zander last year. So they are around, just not prolific like other rivers.

@@destro1989 Are you talking canal or river? I know someone who caught zander in Abingdon in Thames.
@destro19892 жыл бұрын
@@MrMessiah44 river. Canal is pretty shit through Oxford in my opinion.

Great video again buddy keep them coming! How you finding the fox gear? Using a 1000 fox prism myself for light lure work at only £45 from Bristol angling it's a cracking little reel! Will have to try drop shot on the river as had several jacks on opening day jigging which I'm not to ecstatic about lol. I'm guessing Will need to slow things down for the perch and Zander? Maybe a TRD type bait worked slowly along the bottom, as am guessing the oxygen levels will be lower this time of year and the fish will more lethargic.

Thanks mate, more on the way soon! I love the fox gear bud, I have really got on with it well. And the results speak for themselves. The reels are super good for the money bud, and very popular! I don't usually drop shot for perch but for whatever reason it was literally the only thing that would work! Keep trying new things and keep chopping and changing!

The hoodie, is it uv protection? No zander anywhere near me. Enjoyed the video very much, keep them coming.
@luresonly2 жыл бұрын
It sure is mate! It's a great choice for sunny days, it's very lightweight with UV protection and keeps you very cool! It also has an integrated snood! Glad you enjoyed the video bud.

Missed these videos, what landing net handle you using?
@luresonly2 жыл бұрын
It's the fox rage carbon street net, 5.5 meters! Perfect for the river and hard to reach places!

Hi bro love the video what hook size do you use on the stickflex
@luresonly2 жыл бұрын
thanks buddy! i dont use the stickflex any more, ive replaced them with the fox floating uv creatures, but when i did usually a 2 in summer and a 1 in winter, . i always go smaller in the summer as the small fish will choke them right down and leave to bad hook ups, this can also depend on how well they are feeding at any given time.
