Open tailgate on Suburban when switch fails

Neat trick going in through the license plate bumper hole. Of course if the button on the outside fails, you could use the fob or button on the overhead console to open the hatch. I just replaced the glass release button on mine. Thankfully I could pop the glass with the fob, not sure how else you cold do it without drilling / breaking the trim panel.

I might have to try this. My wife has a 2008 Yukon Denali. I got the new replacement motor but I could not get the trim off all the way, her’s does not have the handle that you have to unbolt as i’ve seen on several other videos, I think it’s only accessible with the liftgate open. Her’s does not even have the mark on it where you are supposed to drill the hole.

@@swiftWord its not the same - for a 2015-2020 you have to pull the small plastic trim piece around the lock back is much as possible (from the inside), then there's a round circle inside that looks like a 3/8 or 1/4 inch drive but its not - you insert a flathead screwdriver in and turn counterclockwise to unlock.
