Matt may have just overlooked that Suntree wouldn’t know it. I kinda felt like Ash was initially just doing a bit, like when Yasha would misunderstand how the message spell works, and not actually intending to really cast speak with plants. Matt kept trying to clarify what she was doing to figure out if he should actually respond and she kinda waffled on it for a minute.

Perhaps _Speak With Plants_ grants them sufficient language through the caster’s knowledge. Including the caster’s name as a means of being polite. Since Fearne knew her name, and she cast the spell, Sun Tree knew it too.
