I beg you to rethink taking out the shoulder pads out of the blazer!!! It looks FANTASTIC ON YOU, and the structure is so good! The material and color makes it soft but I feel this structure suits you so much and makes you powerful in a feminine way! Ofc it will look nice even if you take out the shoulder pads, but I feel it will make it slouchy and shoulder line will drop down, but as is now it made my jaw dropping on the floor!

Maybe replace the shoulder pads with 'silicone shoulder pads'. You can purchase them easily on ebay. They feel much better than fabric shoulder pads partly because your body warmth softens them as you wear them so they mould to you nicely.

We did vintage silver tea sets for our centerpieces, and just put the bridesmaids bouquets in the pots after the ceremony and had a small tea light in the creamer cup. We only did this on every other table (only so many bridesmaids) and did candlesticks like you’re doing on the others ☺️ An added bonus was that we gave a tea set and bouquet to each of my mom’s friends that helped decorate or something for the wedding, they all have them as decor in their houses now ☺️♥️

I would really recommend some Columbine species along the front of your patio! Their foliage is low and the tall stems are airy enough that they wouldn't interrupt the view of the granite :) Some dark purple varieties could look really lovely against the stone color, or white/paler shades if that's what you like! I loved seeing your antique finds & hearing the wedding chat! I'd love some tips for fitness beginners or (easier) workout suggestions !!

I think the glass signs are a fab idea! If you can't find something dark to put behind it, you could try putting some dark card in the frame itself. Your wedding seems lovely and laid-back chic (I'm sure it's still a bit stressful, but as long as it's on your terms, good on ya!). Sending goodness towards you both for a lovely wedding and continued progress in the renovation of your house! ❤

I got married last September, here are some other items to consider if your budget stretches: - confetti (and baskets for confetti to be handed out in) - things to freshen up in the toilet (deodorant, plasters, hair grips) - As inspo for gifts, I purchased the jo malone solid perfumes for my bridesmaids and we purchased a voucher for a tasting menu at a fancy local restaurant for our parents and they loved it! (Something different to the normal jewellery and flowers)

I used to be a Florist and some of the nicest weddings we did were the simplest. One I did used nothing but huge lengths of Ivy swagged along the top table and up the center poles of the marquee, along with silverware and standard church candles, it looked stunning!

I think the end of the summer / beginning of the autumn is the perfect time for planning your garden! You can still see or remember what you enjoyed through the summer in other peoples gardens or your own, and it's the perfect time to plant seeds and bulbs for the following spring. First off, a rule I gave myself before my wedding: if something hadn't been handled up to two weeks before the wedding, I didn't stress about it. Big things: photographer, food, booze, your dress, guy's suits, and music. No one remembers anything else. Try to remember to relax and enjoy yourself before your wedding. Why don't you borrow your wedding jewelry or ask your mom or Alex's mom if there is some jewelry that they would like to hand down to you? That way you could have something borrowed or something old? As for things like shoes, buy several pairs, and if you don't like them, send back the ones you don't like. Buy them with the intention that you'll wear them after your wedding. Also, is tux rental not a thing in the UK? That's a way to save a lot of money.

For candle holders what I’ve done at my own wedding is I went to thrift stores and they always have a bunch of sets of glassware and like those little liqueur tiny glasses and bought all the sets I could find, melt the bottom of the candle and stick it in the glass and it worked out very well, looked adorable. Also old wine bottles so with all these different types of glassware, bottles, some actual candle holders it gave a lot of depth because of the different heights, was very inexpensive and sustainable. At the end of the evening everyone could grab the candle holders they liked (most of them were actually taken by our guests) and in our thank you packages you had additional candles

I usually do not like yellow clothes, but the yellow dress looks awesome on you - so bright and sunny 🙂 For the plants in the gardenbeds: I would probably try to consider planting things next to each other with similar water needs (like hydrangeas usually need a ton of water, while lavender is not as needy) - especially if you plan on puting in some form of irrigations system (driplines or such) in the future. Additonally, it might pay off to focus on plants that do not need a ton of water since even the UK is getting hotter and hotter every year and water preservation gets ever more important.

Completely agree with buying things for the wedding you'll re-use but also spending the money on keepsakes. It is worth spending the money on them I promise! I got married just over a month ago and made all the decorations myself, staining wood, painting, printing signs, you name it! Our centrepieces were terracotta flower pots I painted and grew flowers and lavender plants in that guests took home afterwards! A few tips come to mind - I would say having a wedding perfume has really worked - I wore a specific perfume for special days leading up to the wedding, the day of, and on our honeymoon and it already reminds me of it! Would also recommend thinking about if you'd like to preserve any of your flowers (bouquet/buttonhole) afterwards. It wasn't something I thought about pre-wedding but knew I wanted to keep them if I could almost as soon as I saw them so had to do some quick research! Finally, don't forget the little things like pens for people to write in your guestbook! Sounds like it's going to be beautiful ☺️

Hi Madeleine! I'm a French vintage and antique dealer. I travel out to France on a regular basis and bring our finds back to the UK to sell into the trade, internationally and also to the TV and the film industry. I totally get the perception that these things are expensive but sometimes I think it's forgotten that the seller spends so much time gathering these items, whether it be from markets, auctions, others dealers, home clearances. (So much stuff on Facebook market place is not original or has been newly painted). It's such hard work and very often this is reflected in the price.There are also often costs involved (for us its all the taxes involved now since Brexit) in running these types of businesses. I know for myself, I carefully curate my style which takes a lot of time picking the right pieces to make sure my customers will come and buy form me. No hate intended (I totally love your channel) but sometimes I think it's easy to say "I could find these things cheaper myself" and forget the time involved for business owners to find, clean and sometimes mend these items. For some it might be too expensive, but for others who haven't got the time to source these things themselves, having someone else bring it all together into one shop is just what's needed and they are happy to pay for someone else to do the hard work for them. I love my job so much and there's nothing else I'd rather do. xxx
@MadeleineOlivia2 жыл бұрын
What a dreamy job! In another life this would be my absolute dream! I agree that the business owners who have vintage shops should definitely charge a premium for all the reasons you stated. I did highlight this in the video about why it costs more due to curating the products for sale. I only mean for me personally, as an avid vintage and antique shopper for about 15+ years, I can find these things cheaper for myself when I am trying to cut costs as renovations are very expensive! I totally get the price, but I can't justify it when I can find them cheaper. But it's a very good service for those who can't or don't want to!

For your wedding shoes: look into the material and whether you can dye it (satin or leather for example)! So you could have white (or ivory or whatever colour) on the wedding and dye them a different colour afterwards to be able to wear them for different outfits :)

If your having a cake a nice cake cutting set,champagne goblets engraved if you want decorative box for cards with money etc-make sure the venue allows you to have lit candle on the tables-give your Maid of Honor or wedding venue planner a timeline of the day(aprox)so on that day of your reception no one should be asking you questions,things can change,weather,hopefully not but someone should know the day of what and time things will happen(pick out your Father Daughter dance song if your having it and first song for Bride and Groom

Beautiful video Maddie ~ a lovely mix of subjects and really relaxing to watch. You may have already covered it, but have you considered a personal dresser in to gently curate the wedding dresses/outfits so that everything looks beautiful to the max for the ceremony, photos & video. I think they discretely blend in as guests, and then just come forward to tweak dresses, outfits & hair etc throughout the day. It would take some of pressure off. You'll need someone who's in tune with your design for the whole wedding. Loving your antique/vintage haul! ~ Penzance is just wonderful for such finds...a real treasure trove.

We're doing a similar thing for our wedding decor! Our venue requires all candles to be inside a glass container that's taller than the candle, so we're doing pillar candles, but I love the look of the brass candlesticks! One thing that we've decided to try to do to help with sustainability is use locally grown flowers to cut down on shipping/out of season stuff, so we found a flower farm to do our bouquets and such. It's also less expensive to do it that way here, but I live in the states, so I'm not sure if it would be the same in England.
@MaryJoHeadrick2 жыл бұрын
Yes weddings are SO expensive!! I had such sticker shock when I first started trying to figure stuff out, but I think I'm at a stage in my life where I have a much better grasp on money and my priorities are on other things (like buying a house and travel), so I'm not as tempted to splurge on wedding stuff as I would have been if I'd gotten married earlier.

Watching this vlog has been such a relaxing and enjoyable start to my day; absolutely dreamy content 😍 I LOVE Natacha too! I have her Cut and Build bundle, and started the programmes last November, and I'm just about to come to their end. So has ended up taking me almost 10 months to complete rather than 24 weeks if you follow it strictly. However often spreading a week's workout over two was a better fit for my lifestyle, and I love that Natacha encourages making the programmes work for you, which ultimately makes your relationship with training more enjoyable and sustainable in the long term! Even with that being said I've seen such a difference in my fitness, strength, body composition etc. So glad you're enjoying the workouts too :).

I totally understand the wedding jewelry thoughts! My dad actually purchased my wedding earrings and surprised me the day of (I gave him a variety of reference photos just so they weren’t completely off theme). Hiya, absolutely love the items you bought, the paintings were fabulous especially the the portrait. Also think the jackets you bought looked great, & really suit you. I’d personally leave the shoulder pads in the blazer, it looks really good with them & it might spoil the shape & how it sits on you if you remove them. Anyway it’s a personal choice & you might like it better without but I tend to add them to clothing it give me better shape ! 😁👍

The landscape probably cost more because landscapes are more sought after & the frame seems more expensive compared to the simple frame on the portrait! :-) Most of the time in antique stores it's the frame that dictates the price rather than the painting.
