This is awesome! I also have a childhood best friend. I was born in UK. My friend and I met at around age 5 (I think). Just saying early that I am now 65 and she is nearly 66 - 11 months difference in age. I had to leave the UK when I was nearly 9. My mum contracted incurable bronchitis and was told the cold English weather was not good for her and to move to a warmer country so that is how we ended up in Australia. We wrote letters to each other for 2-3 years after and then we lost touch. She and her family moved to Israel. Back then there was next to nothing to find long lost loved ones. No internet, no nothing. Then Facebook started. After 46 years of not knowing whether either of us were even still alive we finally reunited January of 2012! No doubt we had a LOT of catching up to do but it has always been done online. Mainly on fb Messenger. Unfortunately, to this day we still have not seen each other once again in person. There have been countless obstacles to hinder us along the way including Covid. I would give anything if we could just see each other once again and to give each other a long overdue hug!
