The Celts that live and fight for the UK?
@DaleHartley Жыл бұрын
@@Dryhten1801 That would be the Scottish, the Irish, and the Welsh...The English have keltic blood in them, but very diluted with the roman, anglo-saxon, then norman (norse). However, for all real intents and purposes you might as well say the UK is all keltic, since they history's are so entwined.
@Dryhten1801 Жыл бұрын
@@DaleHartley "very diluted" = 60% on average? Yeah ok lol!
@DaleHartley Жыл бұрын
@@Dryhten1801 you are referring to the kelts that migrated into England bud...Not the native population left from the time that the lands that would become England being keltic. Romans, invaded and greatly effected the make up, then the Anglo Saxons came in and killed a LOT to take control, then you have the Normal invasion in 1066 and the subsequent centuries of their control. Plus England has always been a bit of a cultural/racial melting pot due to trade. ( yes sometimes trade at the point of a gun, but still very mercantile) Anyway bud, Feel free to feel how you want. My first major was Anthro/Archaeology specializing in Northern European people specifically the keltic ones, so I do understand the topic pretty well. I have been out of it for decades, but still it has not changed that much. I think you are trying to hard to be simplistic and not looking at the over all picture.
@Dryhten1801 Жыл бұрын
@@DaleHartley Recent genetic studies show the average Englishman is at least 60% Genetically Brythonic Celtic, and more and more research is disproving the Anglo-Saxon genocide myth and moving to the belief that the Anglo-Saxons moved in small numbers and primarily altered and converted the Britons to the Germanic languages, religion, and culture. So it was a cultural genocide primarily, not genetic. Then you say the English have "always been a bit of a melting pot" referencing the empire. This isn't true and is parroting anti-European lies. Even disregarding the extreme genetic similarity between all the ethnic groups the English derive from, those peoples can all be drawn in a little circle in North West Europe, and that is all. If you think that's a "melting pot" you don't understand the concept of ethnogenesis at all.
