Recently my husband of 20 years and biological father of our 8 children suddenly passed away (on July 16, 2023). Adjusting to the sudden trauma and shock has been the hardest thing we have had to go through in our entire lives! Our 8 children spent their whole lives having their father by their side at home, guiding them. Now this grave loss has caused a ripple affect not only in our daily lives but emotionally, as well as a great looming uncertainty.

Hi Rosalie, so happy to see you looking happier, I know how hard it is to be widowed but you have such a positive outlook to look for your children, To be perfectly honest I think that maybe the children and yourself were struggling with your husbands illness, I do understand because my husband was very ill with cancer in the end. He wasn’t happy because he was he was in so much pain, no matter what anyone says chronic illness does affect everyone, The children have settled and come out of themselves due to your wonderful attitude and love for them. It was hard in some ways when my husband was alive, but now that he is gone it is hard in a new way instead. Sorry to hear about your husband. My husband struggled with depression at times due to his chronic pain (due to disc degenerative disease). You are right about it affecting others. Take care my friend.

Please open the mail before the kids do but let them take it out of the bags or boxes because there are people out there that might send something bad that the kids don’t need to see or touch. Mom just open the mail and look in it for the safety of the kids..It’s sad that you have to check everything but your kids come first. After you check it out you can put a piece of tape back on it or just close the box.

She made me so nervous with the scissors in the beginning 😭 Empress needs discipline before she gets worse..her behavior of pretending to hit with the scissors, just grabbing things out of people’s hands, hogging things, etc. should be unacceptable at school and home. Teaching to share and be respectful and to treat others how you want to be treated, should be implemented at a young age. I’m glad you guys got some nice mail though and the kids enjoyed their stuff.

Sorry to keep commenting, but grief is never done. You never stop loving or missing the person who has passed. Sometimes you will talk about them and be able to laugh at the funny things they did, and other times you may cry. Never give in to the gremlins in your head that tell you that you shouldn't smile, or laugh or do nice things for yourself, because "you have no reason to be happy"... and to the people reading this, who think that because a person who has lost someone is seemingly positive, are "over their loss". Know that there is no such thing. Grief is a life process. So if you care about that person, take the time to find out what they will find helpful in the moment. Never assume what they feel or that they don't need your support, and understand that just because they may find something helpful in one circumstance (i.e., talking about their loss), it doesn't mean they will find it helpful in all circumstances. Needs change.
