Dispite my living in the united states, i just have to get this set! i was suprised by the detail in a RTR set! thank you so much for your review and I am looking forward to see more!

Those Bachmann controllers are great, they have an updated version where the knob clicks on/off as well which are nice so you don't have to keep unplugging it. I have a couple of them on the oorail layout, work very nicely even with the older tri-ang locos...

Got hands on this set second hand for arounf £65 after watching your video. You have now got me into N gauge. Thank you, lol.

It sounds like a model plane! Nice review, I always imagine N gauge to be smaller than it actually is.

There are two things: Scale and gauge. Scale is something like 4mm represent a foot in real life for OO (1/76) or 2mm per foot for N (1/148). Then there is the gauge used, which depends on the prototype and the preferences (OO (16.5 mm), EM (18.3) and P4 (18.83) are all the same scale (4mm/Foot) representing standard gauge). The standard N gauge is Nine millimeters, which can be used to model narrow gauge railways in larger scales.
@DanTheCaptain11 жыл бұрын
WOW! I find it awesome that your going out of the O and HO guage sets and exploring the other part of the world of railmodel world

Woo Preston!! Enjoying the videos, never really been interested in N gauge but might be given the small footprint of the layout
@pepperthekobold11 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of doing an end to end windowsill layout in N gauge roughly based on a typical Lincolnshire branch. Wrawby Junction and Barnetby station probably.
@SimonsShed12 жыл бұрын
Nice set, I'd be tempted to solder the wires to one of the straight tack pieces (i.e. cut the connectors off) as I find them fiddly and often the power cuts off if the connectors move even slightly.
@lee-lm2ze12 жыл бұрын
I already run N gauge and I love it there is so much you can do than oo and best thing you can do more in little space

Very, very nice video. I'm not sure I am entirely happy about the track cable though, that is really on my mind now. Great project can't wait for the next video !
@Anjasomc12 жыл бұрын
That looks and runs great for such a small model! You would think that if Bachmann could make a model this small without blacking out the windows they could do it for a 00 gauge model. Oh well...
@southtownjunction12 жыл бұрын
i think those bits of plastic with holes in are meant to be reinforcers or holders for a dcc chip. i have never had that those loose in the spares before becaause they are normally pre fitted.
@InterCity8211 жыл бұрын
Yeah why not! Maybe another project is all that's needed!

I have N Scale trains but I model in Japanese as it's a load cheaper and their variety of trains and scenery is huge. Kato and Tomix motors are perfectly smooth and almost silent, but you haven't heard loud in a model engine until you have used a Greenmax train. They are monstrously loud for how small they are.
@teacoffee58472 жыл бұрын
Yeah Kato motors are sweet. I have a few class 800's and they are fantastic so smooth and very quiet.. I would love to fit a speaker in them though and sound chip

I have done a few in the past but I focus on British stock mainly.
@KeithTucker4511 жыл бұрын
Liked the video. Very tempted to replace my 'old' DMU set with one of these later ones; they look so much better and have directional lighting!!! As an aside, Graham Farish was an independent company based in Poole, Dorset but when Bachmann took them over, the factory was closed and production moved to China - like a lots of production these days!!!!
@keyboy22112 жыл бұрын
running in quiets the motor a bit and when you blu tack it down, be careful you will need to push or remove the excess tack that comes though the sleepers it can derail and or uncouple the engines (not very likely but can happen) and rolling stock (more likely because of the lack of weight)
@WDG1303112 жыл бұрын
You can get the new Dapol Class 56 to haul your M&Ms around. But what wagons will you use? Though for locos I love the GF Class 47, GF Class 66, GF Class 70, and all of Dapol's models

Will, you could do a standard-gauge - narrow-gauge! You could put a OO track with an N-gauge track along-side, with narrow-gauge-style engines running alongside the OO engines! :)
@ngaugeuk12 жыл бұрын
Nice review, glad to see you finally come over to the dark side lol With the connecting wires, what I found is that it's best to run it under one of the track joins where there is no sleeper webbing.
@tomhowland953810 жыл бұрын
Great video, I'm thinking of building a N gauge layout ( my first real model railway ) due to how little space it takes up. How would I run a few lines? Would I need another controller? Thanks.
@InterCity8210 жыл бұрын
If it's DC then yes. Another controller would be great. If you're going down the DCC route then one controller is enough.

although n gauge is a specyfication of 9 mm track gauge, a scale of 148 is not the same as continental train scale of 160 used for n scale tracks by piko and arnold if you want confusion there always some with trains

they are quite easy to read the desanation boards on the class 150's i own the an Arriva on and a Central trains one but wait until you get your hands on a class 170 they are so hard to read but trust me they are there

it's usually a bit more expensive actually - loco wise anyway - altho cheaper rolling stock makes up for it I guess.

The reason why the coulours are different is each one holds different things e.g the purple one holds water for the toilet
@Matthewmodeller22912 жыл бұрын
Very hard to do that on an Intercity82 video!
@Jodie84212 жыл бұрын
Actually I think that loco might have something wrong with it - it shouldn't be that rough. Running it in for a while might help
@Scep4211 жыл бұрын
They're the smallest and most detailed for their size models. For quality N scale look for Kato trains. They're based in Japan but do North American and other area trains, IC
@Oorail12 жыл бұрын
I don't think that Class 150 is going to haul freight though? Any reason you didn't go with the NCB set? Are you going to go with something like a Class 20 or Class 08? :)

And O scale is 2 different scales, too, depending on where in the world you are. I just got into large scale, the 45mm gauge stuff, and if you think the other scales are wacky, check out G. 1;19, 1:20.3, 1;22.5, 1:24, 1:29., 1:32 They are all called G scale and G gauge. And with just as many coupler styles. I have a headache.I'm modelling 1:29, which I call G29 for simplicity. It's really narrow gauge , but close enough that it passes for standard, just like OO does. Did I mention my head hurts.

A railway like what you've proposed would benefit from some American Gondola Cars. But, to keep with the style of your country, some little ore wagons or maybe EWS Megaboxes will do nicely.

its best to run the other wire under the fish plate joints so that you dont end up with a bump under your track, other than that great video.
