Fun Fact: The little hand holding between Two and Jamie wasn't in the script, but was planned by them before the shoot so they could have some fun and because they knew that given the way the show was shot they probably wouldn't do a retake.

This is why I love Troughton. Even if I'm not a big fan of Tomb.
@TheOnComingStorm1216 жыл бұрын
I can't confirm if this is true or not so take this with a massive grain of salt but I remember the director getting really pissed off at this bit as he didn't like the idea of implying that Jamie and the Doctor were doing any of 'that sort of thing'. And rumour has it Pat and Frazer agreed to play the Second Doctor and Jamie from then on 'As if they were sleeping together'. Again not sure if true but I mean... Look at how close the Doctor and Jamie get in a lot of scenes. It'd make sense.
@acorn10146 жыл бұрын
Sam Dimitrijevic, Frazer confirmed it during those "meet the doctors" series of interviews in 2013.
@TheGamerZapocalypse5 жыл бұрын
It clearly implied nothing was going on...that's why the Doctor threw Jamie's hand away so fast when he saw it was not the female companion he was holding hands with. He thought he was holding her hand which is why it's funny. @@TheOnComingStorm121

It seemed clear that was improvised. But still worked for the fun for the Second Doctor and his personality.

I wish the current production team would sit down and really think about WHY this is still one of the best Cybermen stories. In this era of Who no one gets to just "shake-off" full on cyber conversion because they hear a baby crying, or because "love is a promise". If they get you, they get you. Period. You belong to them. You shall become ... like them. It blows my mind how current Who can screw up something as bone chillingly basic as a techno-zombie.

Here's my version of Doctor Who Tomb of the Cybermen: The Doctor, Sara and Bret, Ben and Polly, Jamie show their new traveling companion Victoria Waterfield the interior of the TARDIS, though she scarcely believes it can travel through time and space. Victoria questions the doctor on how old he is, to which he answers 450 years, "in Earth terms." The TARDIS takes off from Skaro, heading for a new destination. On the planet Telos, an archaeological expedition uses explosives to uncover the entrance to a city hidden in the side of a mountain. When a member of the expedition touches the huge metal doors, he is electrocuted. Immediately afterward, the TARDIS lands nearby. The doctor, Sara and Bret, Ben and Polly, Jamie, and Victoria arrive on the scene. Captain Hopper, the expedition's pilot, holds them at gunpoint until the Doctor convinces them, through his ability to take control of the situation, that they had nothing to do with the death. John Viner, the assistant to expedition leader Parry, accuses the doctor of being part of a rival expedition. Parry explains that they are here to find the remains of the Cybermen, who apparently died out centuries before. The expedition is funded by Miss Kaftan, who is accompanied by her giant manservant, Toberman, and her colleague, Eric Klieg. Now that he knows the Cybermen are involved, the doctor decides to accompany the group. He uses a small device to unelectrify the doors and employs Toberman's great strength to haul them open. The doctor warns the expedition to be careful, but they march in, paying no heed to his warning.

Twilight Yoshi Back in the day the BBC only had a limited amount of space. So, when an episode broadcast, they wiped the master tape to reuse it without checking first whether a copy had been made or if the episode had been sold overseas. Some episodes are lost forever (The Daleks' Master Plan episode 7) but some could still be out there. However, the soundtracks still exist due to fan recordings and are available for purchase.
@andu18549 жыл бұрын
Back in the 60's, the BBC decided to save money by taping over older shows, not realizing that Dr Who was going to become a cultural phenomenon, hence the reason many of Hartnell and Traughton's episodes are missing and why if you find any of them (I think the most recent story was found in Nigeria of all places) you get your own Dalek, life size..

The BBC and ITV had... problems. Attitudes. The writers for DW were relatively enlightened and multicultural, indeed that's the basis behind many stories, so unless a biography reveals otherwise, we can assume it's orders from above.
