I'm almost finished with animation school, and I was looking for cut-out animation softwares for when my student Harmony license expires… This is GREAT, I'm completely sold. Even not knowing Opentoonz, it's similar enough to Harmony so I'm not really lost. The functionalities seem to work really well (man, I'm so hyped to try that bone tool), and the rigging system is simple enough. Thank you so much for this video!

they actually - made a huge step, since that version from 2016 - OpenToonz - used to crash frequently, now it works very well,it is quite stable, especially version from 2020 - nightly build

This is a great program with lots of tools. I am glad that the developers keep improving it and making it more stable. Now it only crashes every 3 to 4 minutes of using it (also if I stare at it for a few seconds, or when I blink or breathe). I will get a drawing tablet and start practicing with this useful tutorial.

So I've been looking for a decent and free animation software to start learning on that had both interpolation and rigging, and that was easy to use. Your video sold me on Opentoonz! Even 3 years later, your work holds up really well and I'm enjoying my first bouncing ball tutorial! Thank you much, and I can't wait to use the plastic tubing in my projects!

this is the best demonstration of combining this two tools, exactly what i wanted to see! Thanks a lot! I'd really like to watch the whole process (1 or 2 minutes will be enough) of setting keyframes for such a big number of layers , is t just happens automatically for all elements when you are creating a new posture of the character?

Thank you for showing to the point all the animation techniques possible in this software. I just have one question to ask: I see with plastic tool to deform (the last technique) that once you play with it it becomes pixilated, is there a way to not have this side effect and still have this organic movement?

The bone system is awful and complex the plastic system does not look too bad... I can't wait to mess w that. Such a good tutorial. Im a bit sad you have to make all your bones seperate and you cant just place em on top like in moho... (Im sticking w this one though because moho kept loosing my saved work... This one only crashed twice but auto save actually saved and it helped a lot) just hoping bones become easier to use in future. The plastic looks easy though. :)

Thank you for this tutorial. It would be helpful if you'd include a sample OT file containing the character rig. Also, though you show what you're doing with the hands, you gloss over the head. And the head turns from front to profile view. Which is a neat trick. One that you don't explain. So here's encouragement for more in-depth tutorials.

There's a google+ community for Opentoonz. You might want to check it out. I posted this video there for folks. But you might want to check it out and post your stuff there. I won't post a link because KZbin seems to censor those as spam. So just google it. EDIT: I think this is the most advanced character rigging tutorial for OT I've seen. So I definitely will continue watching your stuff. Some additional advice, you need a better microphone. Audio quality matters. Sometimes it's tough to hear you.

Hey, how did you get those edge strokes to taper off? Especially at the joints. Also, how did you get that calligraphy style tapering to your edge strokes? Do you set a transparent edge for the fill and then just freehand the edge strokes? And group them together, presumably. Or can you use the object's stroke and somehow hide a portion of it where joints join between levels? Like say in between the arm and forearm.

I've set the centre points both and I've created body mesh and built bones but when I animate eyes doesn't follow the body. I set eyes as child to main body and then tried same to mesh as well but nothing seems to work. Can somebody please explain me where I am wrong?
