I'm having an issue downloading the RC1 opentx firmware to my pc. Whenever I click on download, it starts a progress and a few seconds later I get a pop up error that says "Invalid Board " message. I can't seem to get past this. Any suggestions?

can you please help me with downloading new firmware so I can update my Jumper t16. I thought I downloaded the new versions onto the SD card in the transmitter. I can see the new downloads but when I go to bootload they don't show up to be updated. I have another blank SD card that I want to use to start fresh. Can you give me any tips or guidance? I know it should be that hard but I'm all mixed up now and need a little help, please?

Hi Tmac, just wondering if these remote has Access protocol software installed already? I have the Pro version and it’s opentx 2.3.2. I used to have the Frsky X-Lite S access and the flashed all my receivers to Access, now I’m wondering if they work on this controller or is there any way to download the access protocol and install it into this unit?

I did not understand why you changed the SD card in the end. I thought I had recorded the SD content through the cable that was connecting the PC to the radio. where did this new card come from and what's in it?

I used a brand new SD card, formatted it with Fat32 format and copied the new SD card contents to it from my PC. I never copied the SD card contents to the SD card which came with the T16. So, I swapped out the SD card in transmitter with new one. Now, I still have old SD card with Jumper SD card contents on it as a backup.

I don't see the Jumper T16 option when going to settings. I receive a warning prior to that step that says, "Firmware opentx-x10-en does not seem to have ever been downloaded."

I don't know what firmware you have loaded. Did you get the T16 with an "OpenTX 2.3.2" version of do you have JumperTX on it. The OpenTX 2.3.2 version that Jumper is shipping out this week (week of Nov 18th) is not the official OpenTX release fully supporting the T16. It is one of the nightly versions of OpenTX (even though it doesn't heave the "N" in the nomenclature). Having said all that, use the hyperlinked Table of Contents above and start at time hack 3:18. You'll need the nightly version of Companion. This should get you started in the right direction. I've included a checklist you can download above for further info.

Just one simple question, what is the benefit of all this, other than risk the radio and model in the storage? Makes no sense to me, if the range increase or is some telemetry advantage I will said ok, but this bring absolutely nothing to the table at all. You videos do are second to none, I love them.

Thanks All Things M3. You can update the external module firmware also. Just remember to use "inv" file instead of "no_inv" file (as described in the video Jumper T16 Bootloader & Firmware Update). This video (Jumper T16 OpenTX Firmware Update) is about updating the system firmware (OpenTX) on the radio, NOT the module. These are 2 different things. See my video on Jumper T16 Firmware Clarification for more explanation on the two firmware (system and module)

Hey William. If you're on JumperTX, you'll want to go to OpenTX as soon as possible. OpenTX official version with full support for Jumper T16 is out. To answer your question, I honestly don't remember. I didn't have JumperTX on my T16 long enough I don't think to try it with R9. I know the R9 system works fine with OpenTX. Used it for awhile on my T16. Have recently changed over to Crossfire.

I’ve been trying the latest version and it has a corrupt file in it but open tx doesn’t seem to do n30 anymore so I’m goner wait till official release at least I’ve got the module updated I see on Grayson hobby they’ve got jumper t16 with open tx already installed but it doesn’t tell you which version??

The version of OpenTX that is shown on Grayson Hobby's video is a nightly version (even thought he nomenclature does not have the "N" it) which was provided to Jumper by OpenTX Dev team. it does not have all the features wiht it which will come with official OpenTX release supporting the T16. Waitig for official release is not a bad thing. You've already made progress by uploading bootloader!

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. What version were you updating it from (Jumper firmware or OpenTX firmware and what version?)? Where did you get the firmware from that you used to "update" with (Jumper site or OpenTX site)? Did you use the available checklist for download in the link above? Did you try to transfer models from Jumper firmware to OpenTX?

@@agungwaw If you're using the original SD card, get a new (good) one (Class 10). You can get a 16 Gb one for $6 on Amazon. I would NOPT go back to any JumperTX firmware and do NOT get any OpenTX firmware form Jumper site. Use OpenTX site. Do NOT attempt to transfer any models from JumperTX firmware to OpenTX. Use checklist provided in link above and start over once you have a new SD card. Also, make sure your SD card contents are for the version of OpenTX you're using (for example, there is an SD card contents for each version).

I updated mine a few days ago. At that time the file I used was the most recent. OpenTX comes out with new nightlies quite often (nightly?). This video was posted a few days after I updated my transmitter

One question I have in upgrading my T16 is - can you move the exisitng models across from the JumperTX SD card to the new OpenTX SD card, and have them recognised by the new firmware? the OpenTX news page for the 2.3.2 nightlys says this is not supported, but does it actually work! I have about 20 models that I don't want to loose.... (particularly the trim settings, as they've been honed through much flight time)

My understanding is it is "hit or miss." There's a reason OpenTx page says it's not supported. Some have tried (myself included) and it has put transmitter in emergency mode which is difficult to get out of. I have heard of a few people trying it by turning internal module OFF on all models before doing so and it has worked

You can hover your mouse cursor over each option to see an explanation of what they are for. In this case, internalmulti says its support for an internal multimodule. Looking at other transmitters which do not have an internal module, but do have an external module bay (like the X9D+), this option was not available for those. So, that tells me you can update those transmitters firmware (which had an external module bay) without this option. Therefore, without actually confirming this myself as I do not have an external module, I will conclude this internalmulti option is only for the T16 Pro (with internal module) OR a modified T16 with an internal module installed by the user (i.e. not for the external module bay). Does that make sense? Hope it helps

Side note: I have flown FPV planes for the past couple years and now working my way through your FPV fast track course so I can learn how to fly quads FPV. Flying a quad is so alien to me!

It's common for things not to work when you have other windows open and sometimes even when you have other things plugged into other USB ports (or hub) on your computer. I haven't updated the firmware on my Jumper T16. It still uses Jumper firmware. If I put OpenTX, will I lose all the existing settings?

So, based on your question, I'm going to assume you mean you're running on JumperTX which was what the first shipments of the T16 came out with. If you're running on OpenTX 2.3.2 on your T16 which is what current T16s are shipped with, then you should not lose anything. So, if you're running on JumperTX (i.e. NOT OpenTX 2.3.2) I'm not sure what you mean by existing settings, however, if you're talking about the models, OpenTX Dev's have strongly recommended not attempting transfer of models from JumperTX to OpenTX. Its best to capture your model settings in some manner then recreate them in OpenTX.

I used this guide to install Jumper's release of OpenTX. I don't feel comfortable flying a nightlies build quite yet...I'm a recent convert from a life of closed source radios.

Great! Happy to hear it worked for you! "Jumpers release of OpenTX" is a previous nightly build version of OpenTX which the OpenTX development team deemed stable enough to release to Jumper for use. All OpenTx versions Jumper "releases" are obtained from OpenTX Dev's. Just information for you, nothing for you to do. Also, OpenTX is on "Release Candidates" stage now which means 1 step closer to full-featured OpenTX official release

Hey Gypsy Nipsy. You can do one before the other. Depending on whether or not you currently have the bootloader installed on your multimodule will determine if you need to do the bootloader install. See the video for how to determine whether or not you currently have the bootloader installed. If you do not, you will want to install it. You can do this after you update to OpenTx, however, if you update to OpenTx and don't do the bootloader install afterwards (which also updates the mumltimodule with a newer version of firmware) I cannot guarantee they will "play nice together." Love Ya videos, they're so helpful. I've a T16 and upgraded with internal module, plus updates the module firmware V1.3.0.47. My Jumper has JumperTX-t16-2.3.0 (3e6a17d3). However, using OpenTX Version2.3.3RC1 every time I attempt to download version 2.3.2 I get an error saying "Invalid Board" It will not download the file onto my hard drive, nor an SDCard or my Jumper radio? I've even tried to use the OpenTX nightly builds and I continue to receive the same response. I know OpenTX is working fine on my PC because it worked perfectly to update my Taranis with version 2.3.2

Tmac, I sorted it out by using the Companion Nightly build. Now have opentx-t16-2.3.3RC1 firmware installed on my T16 and the internal Module is working fine, just need to test my Crossfire as well. However, I still get the INVALID BOARD warning if I attempt to use Companion 2.2.3RC1. I'm hoping this will eventually be sorted out soon so I no longer have to use nightly builds?

Since it is a Release Candidate (2.3RC1), did you select Release Candidate (testing) in the drop-down menu under the Applications Tab of Companion? 3 options are stable release, release candidate, and nightly. If you're downloading RC1, you want Release Candidate

@@1unaffiliated1 Hey Steve. Only thing I can think of is your SD Crad conetnts version do not match the verison of the OpenTX firmware you just downloaded. If you downloaded and installed the 2.3.3RC1 OpenTX firmware I just looked and there is a new SD card contents file dated 13 Dec on this site: downloads.open-tx.org/2.3/rc/sdcard/opentx-t16/ So, to answer your question, I do not know. That's my best guess right now. If I come up with something else I'll make sure to let you know. If the above fixes it, please let me know too! Thanks Steven and have a good night!

Hi Tmac, Donald here again. I've been using my T16 and finally got and upgraded the gimbals to Hall gimbals and its performing flawlessly. Just a quick question any idea how the official release of OpenTX for the T16 is coming along?? Oh also has anyone made a video or have you of the process to replace the T16 case? I've a new carbon fibre looking case on its way.

Hey Mark! Great question. I was in N30 and went straight to N54 because I needed a feature for a video I'm posting today at 3:00pm which N30 didn't have. I use it to update internal module WITHOUT USB -to-serial adaptor (subsequent to bootloader being installed with USB-to-serial adaptor the 1st time). Before I updated to N54, I researched it for any issues people were having. Found none. It actually fixed an issue or 2 in N53. Anyway, check out the video that posts today at 3:00pm & let me know if you've got questions

Nice ! I've had my finger on the trigger for my first full feature transmitter , but the target keeps changing ! x9D to x9D SE to Jumper T16 to x9D 2019 to Jumper T16 Pro. If Jumper were welcomed at the "OpenTX , FCC, freemarket" party from the get go... well regardless, it looks like they've got an invitation. Still I think I can wait off until they SHIP with OpenTX. I don’t know how many others are having similar issues, but I am not having the best of luck. I tried using an Arduino as my USB to TTL. No success. Tried using the Wine Bottler app for Mac which allows a Mac run Windows apps. Nothing. I also have my Mac running Windows. Nothing. And I don’t know anyone with a Windows computer. And I am at my breaking point with this lovely well thought out radio with a minor set back...

Just wanted to update you guys that i was able to update my t16. i would like to mention that i do not have extensive computer knowledge and this was a bit of a task. thanks tmac for your help!

Just subscribed to your channel. OpenTX conversion went well. Seems I need to rebuild all of my models from scratch since OpenTX is NOT happy about using the old X10S models. It wipes out all the old models and goes into calibration mode.

TMac Excellent video, but I have a problem. There are no subtitles in the video and for me that I am Spanish it is difficult to understand everything you say, besides, you speak quickly and it still makes me more difficult. If I read it in English I do understand it easily, I guess it has no solution, so I will try to understand your video.

I'm delighted that OpenTX is now being ported to the Jumper T16. I've had mine since June and it's very clearly the best transmitter on the market currently - with the only caveat that it wasn't supported by companion. Now that's fixed (or very close to being fixed) there's absolutely no reason not to go with the T16. In fact, there is one HUGELY compelling reason to do so, and that's the appauling behaviour by FrSky in trying to force the T16 off the market by uncompetitive practices - we as a community need to strongly resist this blatant attempt to reduce our choice and force the market in their favour! - boycot FrSky until they start playing fair....

@D town 313 Hey D town 313 - sounds like you're having an issue with Spectrum and your T16 transmitter? if so, it may be the firmware you're running on it. There is a bug in Jumper's released version of JumperTX affecting the internal module and DSM. You can switch to the JumperTX build linked here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=42917131&postcount=4692 or go to OpenTX nightly builds

I got my T16 yesterday and for the life of me, it won't update the firmware of OpenTX UNLESS i put it in bootloader mode. Your instructions are to flash with it powered off. I can't do that. Anyone else have this? I updated my module to the latest so thanks for that video! :)

what nightly are you trying to update? I've heard of a issue with the latest one. I'm still on N30! Just plan on keeping that until official release. Maybe try an earlier nightly version if you're currently trying latest one?🤔

@@TMacFPV hy TMac how are u, I finally bought me the internal board for the jumper T16 now I'm waiting for it to get deliver one question should I upgrade the firmware on my jumper now before installing the board .? And also men I'm having a trouble trying to make the jumper to communicate with the reciever i did bind the receiver i have a frsky xm+ and when i connect the betaflight i dont see the movement of the sticks when i go to the receiver tap. I really want this to work I'm going to have to buy me a ready to flight drone to see if it work cause now it's been like almost 5 month that i have been putting together my only drone and i think i did a good job building it me been knew in this hobby thanks too u and other people that i have watch in this time . Thank u so much .

If I were you, I'd just wait until you get the internal board, then install it, then update your radio firmware (per my video), then upload the bootloader to your internal module and update its firmware (per my other video). You will need to re-bind your receivers after these processes are done anyway so no need to try and trouble-shoot it now without the internal board installed and firmwares for both the radio and internal module updated.

Before I forget let me tell u a little bit of my story on getting in this hobby when I start it I think the second thing that I bouth me was the Radio from Radiolink it was the first time in my life getting me one so I did not know how it did work so I start watching videos to learn to make the story short , I did want it to update the firmware even though i was not flying anything yet in the process of upgrading i think that i did something wrong so now that radio does not work lol anyways i think i can fix it but that's another topic so after that i got me the jumper so I'm going to be carefull on how i do the upgrade of the firmware so i thought that have to share that with u thank very much TMac.

The sd card version file was missing from download and dug driver was missing I’ve tried the download twice and both times the two files were missing got the two files from Oscar and boom it worked ok 👌 I’ve put it back to standard till official release

Hey Big Willie! Just looked up your "UMX BNF plane." From what I saw it appears this type of plane uses a E-flite 6-Channel Ultra Micro AS3X Receiver which uses a DSM protocl. There has been a "known" issue with JumperTX which affects DSM protocols when using the internal multimodule of the Jumper T16. There are two ways to fix this. 1. Install the "fixed" version of Jumper TX from this link: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=42917131&postcount=4692 using the procedures from this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWbciqOYhNWLfcU (EXCEPT do NOT download firmware from the Jumper website--instead use the firmware from the 1st link). TMac it works BnF plane sorted but.. I now get an SD card warning when ever I turn on tx or change models,

@@BigWillieFPV this happened to me as well. The manual says this means the version of firmware on the SD card does not match the firmware of the radio. I got the warning when I tried downloading 2.3.0 on the SD card but my T16 says firmware version is 2.2.3. I haven't had time to look more into it so I just re-downloaded 2.2.3 on my SD card. Sorry I don't have an answer but that's what the issue was.

@@cbfsoar15 I understand completely. Importing models from JumperTX to OpenTx doesn't seem to be working well. To save time & effort, its just better to create the models from scratch the first time with OpenTX on the T16. Then, of course, you can copy those to as many quads as you want. I basically created one model (I have all my models set up using the same switches on the transmitter) and copied it to as many quads as I have. I have different throttle curves for each model so I did need to change that aspect of the models. Not much else. Much easier & quicker than trying to import from JumperTX. Very happy it all worked it well for you! Clear skies friend!

OpenTX is an upgrade from "JumperTX" firmware which is/was a reluctant "fork' of OpenTX. Also, Jumper T16s will be coming out with OpenTX installed soon.
