The Bass Gang is a fun little rabbit hole! They all have insane ranges, which they love use. Hooked On A Feeling featuring Tim Foust, Arabian Nights, and Gaston are good ones, plus one sing featuring Elliott Robinson (help, I forgot the name!). It just amazes me that TBG does (nearly) all this remotely! Edit: Mad World featuring Elliott Robinson

Fun facts: The members live on 3 different countries - America, Czech Republic and Egypt. Peter Barber is a professional bass opera singer. Marwan is only 17 (maybe 18 now) They have released 3 albums containing 4 songs - each member arranged a song for the album. The 3rd album all members were meant to meet in the Czech Republic but Marwan's Visa fell through so he was green screened into the videos.

I am so glad you listened to the comments asking you to react to Bass Gang's version of this! They've held a special place in my heart since their start, and I really hope you fall further down the rabbit hole! Peter is also a professional opera singer (there are some clips of that part of his work on here as well) and he was very excited to bring some of that into this piece. All four of them also have solo channels with some really creative arrangements and impressive ranges (I think they link their channels in the descriptions under each Bass Gang video). If I may make a suggestion, I would work from their older work into their collaborative works, so you can get a feel for each member's unique timbre and tricks. Also, semi related, Bobby (the "rounder" bass as the quartet took over from Lauren in this song) has another group he works with called The Wellermen. They do a lot of shanties, as well as some fantasy music (LOTR) that I feel you will enjoy. Again, thank you for this reaction, and may the bass be with you 😉

Great reaction! I am glad you discovered The Bass Gang - they have a lot of things that are really good!

I’m actually going to go against what most people will say and tell you not to react to Hooked On A Feeling until you’ve heard more of TBG. It’s honestly a Tim showcase and you don’t get a good sense of the actual members’ abilities. It’s a very tenor forward cover (not to say that there isn’t any bass, cause there definitely is). I would recommend their covers of Mad World, Yellow Flicker Beat, or Jolly Sailor Bold for the best representation of all their voices.

The Bass Gang has really grown in their production values over the past three years. It is amazing how much they can do being in four different places (three continents). As Marwan was unable to join the other three last summer in the Czech Republic to do four Disney songs, they have never all been in the same place at the same time. But this "problem" has given them the freedom to explore some very creative options. Peter Barber provides behind the scenes on their videos when he does his reactions for them. They have also produced a documentary on the Czech trip.

I still enjoy watching this one. Lauren's voice really adds to the creepiness. Especially at the end.

The Bass Gang is a favorite of mine. I think they are all extremely talented. They started as strictly an acappella bass group, but have recently started exploring using instruments in their videos. I hope you react to more of their work. Yellow Flicker Beat is one of my favorites. I appreciate your analyses using your technical expertise. May the bass be with you.

I love Peter Barber's lows in the "You're not there, I wonder" Section of the song. He literally sounds like a subwoofer bottoming out it's coil lol.

The other acapella groups, Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay, have been together at least since the Singoff on NBC in 2011. The Bass Gang strarted in 2021, during the pandemic. So naturally, the Bass Gang are just defining themselves, but they are pretty darn good for being newbies. By the way, one of these gentlemen, Marwan, lives in Egypt and as far as I knoww, has not met the others in person, and Peter Barber is one of your fellow opera singing reactors.

I’m so glad you checked this out! I THINK was the first piece these guys did after raising some money so they could hire Ed Boyer, the guy who does the mixing for Voiceplay and a lot of other acapella groups. If you decide to fall down the rabbit hole I’d love it if you’d start at the beginning-Volume I was much more simple, the guys did their own mixing and video work. Marwan (the guy who hits the B0 in this ) was SEVENTEEN at the time (I think he was still 18 when they did this-and HE did this arrangement!). But they did a brilliant job with the resources they had. There’s a TON of incredible talent in this group-and each member has his own channel and/or TikTok to check out. The members are Peter and Marwan, Bobby Bass (aka Bobby Waters)-the nicely rounded voice you talked about-and Tomi Pizur (known as Tomi P). Peter and Bobby live in different parts of the US, Tomi lives in the Czech Republic, and Marwan is in Egypt. They have not ALL met face-to-face yet (they had planned to do so in Tomi’s stomping grounds when they put out Vol III but some idiot had a problem with Marwan’s VISA, so only Tomi, Bobby and Peter have met in person so far). Anyway, you should really appreciate the group’s evolution. Please do check out more!

I've been watching for a while and I really enjoy your reactions. I enjoy seeing your reaction to the whole song and then having you go back through and give more in depth analysis. I also appreciate that you talk about what you don't like as well as what you enjoy. You can enjoy a song and still have honest critiques or things you would have like to have seen been done differently

Thank you so much for your wonderful reaction and fantastic analysis of this video from The Bass Gang! That was almost as fun as the video itself! The members of The Bass Gang live on 3 different continents, and almost all of their videos are shot using green screen, so their videos aren't quite as sophisticated as those of VoicePlay, but I think they do a darn good job. BTW, the two basses you went back to at @ 14:36… The second one, Marwan Ayman, was only 18 when they recorded this. His voice has continued to darken and deepen as he has gotten older. He also arranged this piece and did the beatboxing for it. I find it sad that people haven't paid more attention to him. If you're more interested in his remarkable talent, you might check out his version of Spooky Scary Skeletons, which he did at age 15 or 16 (it's *not* disappointing in any way!) or his cover of Avi Kaplan's Get Down (which he did last year). Also, you might enjoy The Bass Gang's Arabian Nights, the first release on their third album, which came out last year. Marwan arranged and performed the lead in that song. Marwan is now 20. Bobby Waters (the first bass you revisited at @ 14:36) and Tomi P are 25, and, as you likely know, Peter Barber is the "old man" of the group at 30.

So glad you did check out The Bass Gang. They really do some amazing work considering they are from across the world and have never all been in the same place together. Check out Arabian Nights, Mad World, and If I Had a Heart.

Excellent reaction to The Bass Gang, you went into so much detail on your analysis and picked out things I hadn't even noticed before. Peter is actually a trained Opera singer as well as a bass and is the one that sang the operatic bit you picked out. Marwan did the bass drop leading into the 'shift'. I think Bobby is a more natural bass whereas Marwan is more baritone than can do bass so that could be why he sounded brighter at times than Bobby.

Oh, Excellent! Glad to see you react to the Bass Gang with their version of "Hide and Seek" Thank you! The Bass Gang is composed of 4 gentlemen who had not met until this past summer; still managed to put out interesting music. Peter and Bobby Bass are in the USA; managed to not meet until the past summer. Marwan is in Egypt (youngest member of the group). Tomi P is in Czechia where the group was to meet. Sadly, Marwan was unable to get a visa from Egypt to Czechia. All have wonderfully bass voices, and incredible ranges. All are very talented. This is the first video released from the meet up, Summer 2023: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jl7Ed2qej7ibes0

As a beatbox enthusiast, you will really love Friend Like Me also covered by The Bass Gang. They brought in an external beatboxer called Joseph Wheatley and it is their highest production value and arguably best song and video from them. The rest of the Disney album from them is incredible, but the beatboxing is next level is that song especially.

Nice! Your reaction to this made me happy, and may make Peter Barber happy too. (Hopefully he watches your reaction). Another good Bass Gang video you might enjoy is "Hooked on a Feeling" featuring Tim Foust from Home Free. Also, I am happy that you are looking into options for us to donate to your channel. Having a tip jar is a good thing as sung in Billy Joel's Piano Man... And the piano, it sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"

Great reaction. Funny you mentioned the operatic style of 1 guy toward the end. That would be Peter Barber a bass opera singer. He has his own you tube channel as well as each of the other gentlemen do but he helps teach about the voice especially bass. You should check them all out. Tomi P has an amazing range too. He fascinates me.

FYI the Bass Gang at this time none of them had met each other in person. as of a few months 3 of them have met. I think you should listen to Lauren's stairway siren version as well it was done over a year before they bass gang and Voice Play did there ones. so you can see were this started with them as well as see the reason she is a stairway siren. Another one haunted mansion related one I would recommend is Marwan Ayman grim grinning ghosts. The Bass Gang has i think about 20 songs together as well many solo (multiple solo) songs as well
