I forgot to mention there were 150,000 fans at this concert. Dimash Secretly donated all the profits to a local Hospital and an Old Age People's Home. He has also Secretly donated over 5 Tons of food to people in need during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Everything about Dimash is Special, that's why he's showered with flowers everywhere he goes. 😊🏴👍

I love Dimash more than almost every other artist even Andrea Bocelli who was my favourite for a long time , also I have so much respect for him as a person from everything I learnt by watching his interviews and his parents and even his teachers and friends words about him , plus I already saw him live in London & Dubai . But come on you said the word " secretly " a lot , but if it's already public knowledge then the word lost its meaning even if his intention was to keep it a secret , there is no meaning anymore if someone leaked the information to the public .

Dimash wrote the song called “ war and peace” . I was so supprised to know he wrote that song because it sounds si beautiful, yet so historical vibe and a long time music based on the literature piece. Its melody is so big and has historical tastes to it. It sounds like a timeless song for me. 😱🤯
@LeandroAlmeida1084 жыл бұрын
The backtrack is eletronic, very modern, the percussion is also like that but also strong, kinda "agressive" (at least at a show in China where he sang). To me that, together with the lyrics, brings a sense of a modern war, the ones we have today with drones, satellites but still being humanity's worst face. Both Dimash and Igor Krutoy like to mix ancient and modern influences. Dimash loves to add some ethinic riffs to his songs. I wonder from where you got the historical vibes, i didnt know it was based on a old literature piece. Maybe the song was trying to bring acient wisdom to modern times

My favorite thing about this song is that even in other performances, generally older ones, you can actually see him "check" to see if he is going to hit that note on that day. And he does in fact have a bail out plan in case that note just doesn't want to produce for him. That's why I think he is absolutely in full control hitting that whistle.
@kolgerrard19644 жыл бұрын
Actually in his older performances ( except the practice ) he was a beast and didn't check anything you can see him going for it with enough confidence to know he was sure exactly where the note is ( G7 in this case ) and how he's going to reach it . Even here he wasn't checking anything but his voice did break for a second which is normal for singers who sing mostly live like him you can tell his voice cut out because his mouth was open shaking the Mic but the voice cut out in a millisecond without warning ( keep in mind there was no technical issues the Mic was working fine ) so he went as high as he could to make it up for the audience. You can tell also this is the only time he raised his hand to the sky and held the whistle for more than 5 seconds even sliding up to it unlike every other whistle he ever did where he just does it casually for a second and moves on . He was nervous on the singer show that's why he wanted to check the note and not just that he dodged many difficult things on the show like the crazy run down in Diva Dance even though he did it before and after the show .
@Anjalena4 жыл бұрын
I'm curious what note he attempted and failed on here before choosing to do the C8 to D8 slide. I cannot even imagine what it could have been that a D8 was the backup plan. Holy shit. But it does remind us, which I think is vital important to remember, that Dimash is actually human. An incredible, exemplary human, but human nonetheless. And that's something we can all be proud of because we are all already in the Dimash club. ☺️💜🧡
@kolgerrard19644 жыл бұрын
@@Anjalena He's human and I'm actually glad his voice broke for a moment because it shows anyone with a brain that he sings his ass off in his concerts for the audience unlike many other famous singers around today . It's hard to say but it's certainly one of two things : maybe he went for the usual whistle he always did in the past while performing unforgettable day ( G7 ) , but the most likely case in my opinion is that he didn't fail to hit any note , he was just shaking the Mic to make stacatto like he did earlier in the same performance , either way his voice cut out on him so went crazy by raising his hand to the sky and going as high as he could at the moment ( which isn't the highest he can go in general because everyone can sing higher and lower but there's a safe zone you have to stay inside espicially in a live performance )
@Matthewrents4 жыл бұрын

This is an excellent react. FYI. This concert was Dimash's first concert in Kazakhstan after his break out performance in the Chinese contest The Singer of which Dimash was a wild card invitee. The stage was in front of a government building and, I believe it was city hall. There was a large commons area like Central Park which could accommodate a large audience. If you will notice beyond the stage lights there is a large number of little white lights. These are smart phone lights which were part of the 120,000+ in attendance. Where ever Dimash appears he attracts large numbers. Last December Dimash performed his first concert in the United States at New York's, The Barclays Center to sold out crowd. You asked for other songs which Dimash has written. Here are a couple. Daididau which is about the wife of a famous Kazakh Poet who was imprisoned in the 1930s. The other is Screaming which Dimash uses for audience participation. My suggestion for other songs would be to Google Dimash's discography. Congratulation on Julliard.

That D8 so thick and clear.... I believe it's not his limit, to sing it live "yes" probably, but off the record attempts, i believe he can do higher than that (why? No sign of rasp, his note strong straight & stable, he can sustain it without any signs of it was at his peak). Just my opinion

Maggie you beautiful being I like how you react. Not overstating facts but giving us enough to know what professional singing is all about. Fun fact. Dimash was asked about his 6 octave range and he said: "Probably more but that's not important. It is not about high notes or vibrato, I like to sing very much." I love this humble guy.

You are so much fun to watch! You have a great personality, and of course, anyone who loves Dimash is very special!! I don't know if you've listened to Drunken Concubine but he's got low and high notes to the Max!! He performs that with a famous male Chinese singer who sings the female parts in Chinese opera.

Thank you, once again for your analysis, Maggie. Like every good teacher, you make people think. I thought SOS and Sinful Passion told a story, while Ogni Pietra was an inspirational speech in the form of an anthem (particularly given the call and response with the chorus). My sense with this piece was that Dimash was having a very personal conversation with each person in the audience at the concert and watching the video. That is a very special performance skill: the ability to draw an audience in with a sense of intimacy and touch their hearts and souls with the words.

To my understanding: In the original the whistle is G7. In the singer competition in China, he didn't hit it and so he immediately turned back to decorating the song with the opera voices. Here he also tried to reach it, but no sound came out again (where he starts moving the microphone right in front of his mouth but you can't hear anything) and then took one breath and went even higher. Also another interesting thing to note is that someone whistle (I think the same sound? Although at such high pitches I can't distinguish notes) when he was hooing after it XD. Rumors say that dolphins started moving in Kazakhstan after this :P

Maybe I'm crazy, but when I saw the line about gifting to another, my interpretation of this song immediately shifted to a father singing about his daughter. Read the lyrics again from that lens; anyone with a daughter will understand.

Many Dimash reactions are from serious vocal coaches and also have some analysis. But, Maggie your combination is unique and refreshing. It is because you not only know so much; you ARE so much. You are entitled to the honestly shocked and speechless reaction because of that! And of course you follow through, to our satisfaction and become "non-speechless", noticing and sharing things that others don't dare. I'm not referring to the specifics of vocal techniques and voices and Dimash is currently using and mixing, which of course you do well, if not better than others. No, you go right in and declare the emotion and attitude that Dimash is desiring to project, for example his deliberate flirts using his whole self. I, as a guy did not even pick that up until you brought it out, or to be truthful, rather than stating that as an opinion, just blurted out it out as an unquestionable fact! Now when I hear Dimash's and some others' deep tones, I'm similarly enlightened, because of your confidence. Thank you.

I like the fact that after 8-9 seconds of hitting that whistle note someone in the audience tries to match it with an actual whistle
@nataliemontoya11614 жыл бұрын
On your commentary on vocal fry and whistle, another good Dimash song to check out his his duet of Drunken Concubine/Diva Dance with Li Yugang because he does both vocal fry (comments section said E1) and whistle (F#7) in that performance; the two also have very different vocal tones, so there's a lot of contrasts to analyze. If you want to check out something you haven't seen as much of thus far, Adagio has a lot of belting and Screaming has a more modern pop sound (fyi, mv and live are different, and both impressive in their own ways) Regarding Unforgettable Day, hate to disappoint, but while Dimash composed the song, the lyrics were written by Oral Baissengir, per the official credits on his channel, so not really tea to be had there. Mayhaps I shall dm you some actual tea on insta later to assuage your disappointment

Loved your reaction and analysis as always! Definitely put "Know" on your list- you should compare his performance at Igor Krutoy's concert at VTB arena with "Vocalise" (from his Arnau tour), which is similar melodically, but he sings it without lyrics and basically scats/improvises throughout.
