Maggie Renee I have a suggestion: try to contact Geoff for an interview. Another operatic singer had an interview with Geoff last year. Her name is Elizabeth. Her channel is Charismatic Voice. Elizabeth and Geoff talk about general topics on music, Voiceplay and his solo stuff. I think conversation between you and Geoff would be awesome!

You are far from the only reactor (and likely barista, restaurant host, nurse, etc.) to mangle the pronunciation of his name at first. I've been shocked at how many Americans don't know it's simply the French and British spelling of Jeff.

In Way Down, he named the three clones Jeff, Goff and Jeoph, alluding to the many ways people try to pronounce or spell his name. With this we have the addition of Daryl. Another viewer wrote a cute little story about him trying to make restaurant reservations. His full name is Geoffrey Robb Castelucci. First name is too hard for the waiter, as is the last. When he got to Robb with two b’s, it was all over. He must’ve had such a hard time in kindergarten learning how to spell his name! Eli did the amazing background and the lighting. It really just takes it to another level, especially when the ghost cowboys are translucent and you can watch the clouds drift through them.

The characters are, left to right: Jeff, Daryl, Geoff, Goff, and Jeoph. The names Jeff, Jeoph, and Goff were given to characters in his Way Down cover, being common mispronounciation/spellings of his name, and adding Daryl for this cover.

"Ghost Riders" was written and first recorded in 1948 by Stan Jones, made famous by Burl Ives one year later. Today, it had been recorded more than 300 times by artist inside and outside of Country Music. Including Johnny Cash, Christopher Lee (!), the Blues Brothers, Spiderbait and The Outlaws. :) Geoff's Version ist alsolutely GREAT!! :)

Left to right... Jeff, Daryl, Geoff, Goff and Jeoph. In the behind the scenes when he dressed as Daryl he started singing like Barry Gibb. Super high. He also said that was the most masculine he's ever felt (dressing like Daryl) 😹 Daryl is my favorite with Jeff coming in a close second. It was written in 1948. Many people have done this.

That whisper down was amazing, in the fact he let it sink all the way to an F#1; the inverted 5th of B1. Geoff is ALWAYS very focused on intervals as chord tones.

If you listen to Jon Lord of Deep Purple, note that he also used inverted fifths when playing the organ... look for video titled "Jon Lord 101 Tutorial For Keyboard Players" for the details.
@johndeeregreen4592
@johndeeregreen4592 Жыл бұрын
@@specwarat, Jon Lord's organ playing is one reason why I use inverted 5ths on the guitar. I always wondered how they got such a heavy sound, and it's because of those inverted 5ths from the organ... so I just started using 3-note power chords on the guitar, but done 5th, root, 5th, instead of root, 5th, root.

When I checked to see who wrote it, I found that the writer based it on an actual Texas legend of a pretty horrific cattle drive that turned tragic, and then apparently repeated itself the following year for no known reason, with the herd stampeding off cliffs and taking a number of cowboys and their horses with them. Interesting story. Also awful. And quite appropriate for this time of year...

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Geoff has put a LOT of work into his vocals over the last couple years. He was always good, but his timbre is just gorgeous here. You weren’t the only one who had trouble pronouncing Geoff. LOL. Great reaction, and I hope you do get an interview. That would be a lot of fun!
