Hey Jess, Thank you for coming back to Morissette. This is a pretty old song....hopefully you can see some of the things Morissette has done more recently to see where she is today as an artist. That said....I do recommend her B'way set. Morissette performed 5 B'way songs and they are stunning. Another genre she has tackled and conquered!

I absolutely love the details you give in this analysis. If you getting back into Morisette, I think a song you should definitely check out by her is her original song “Love you still (Sunset Version)”. That particular version is chilling and very powerful with lots of emotion. For you, it should be easy to apply your analysis to as the instrumentation is very bare - just a Cello and some soft keys . Wishing you the best!

As Mori expresses it vocally, you eloquently and articulately explained it via your experience! Wow! The subtle and gross! Mori’s BROADWAY SONG in STAGES SESSIONS SUCH AS : Defying Gravity, She Used to be Mine…is her forté me thinks! I believe that she should sing in Broadway though she excels in pop. Go Morissette live Band session singing IMAGINE MORE, COLOUR EVERYWHERE, WATERWALK a modern Gospel song from Mori and Sony Christian music Philippinens, then a song in Tagalog called PAGBIGYANG MULI about asking for forgiveness for doing wrong, then last but not least POWER from the MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST 2022, written for Mori by Kiko Salazar who wrote AKIN KA NA LANG, this live Band version where she is healthy is absolutely amazing, her husband Dave Lamar is doing the camera work, this live Band session is from November 23. There's a concert version from 2016 (audience recording) of Morissette's friend and frequent collaborator, Jona Viray, performing Secret Love Song--search for title: JONA - Secret Love Song (Queen of the Night Concert!). The audio is not as good as the studio-like quality of Wish Bus, but her power is undeniable (you can check out some of Jona's performances on Wish Bus also).There's also a funny a cappella rehearsal by Jona of Secret Love Song with her back to the camera, meant as a joke, titled: Jonalyn Viray Passes Out After Belting Out High Notes Of A Song. By the way, Jona has developed quite a good Popera voice. You can check out her Diva Dance or Queen of the Night. The more recent ones are better than her earlier ones because she's improved quite a bit the last few years in her classical technique. I hear you! I was laughing about 80% of the time I was editing because of how I messed that up. When she sings, it sounds like she is saying “homeless” and as someone who doesn’t know the words, I just went with what I heard. Good lesson to always fact check lol
