Nice job, is the use of the primer valve required? will it pick up at all with out using it?

It's required for the larger nozzles. The smaller nozzles can prime on their own if the steam valve is cracked open, but it can take a long time for it to cycle enough water through to cool the body down (water boils inside the injector). The overflow on the prototype design is simply too small for it to lift without the primer.
