As a bassist playing for a very long time, I don't think guitar and bass are really comparable in terms of difficulty. The job isn't the same. When the guitarist has to support or make the melody, the bassist has to create a link between the drummer and the melody, therefore you have to create as much rythm as you have to create melody. If you're thinking about guitars, yeah, bass is easier because chords are seldom used but you have much more reflexion about rythm that goes through. (and yeah, slap is super cool)

Those are called Taps or Sliders or even Purple Notes. You don't have to strum at all. Basically Tap (where it got its name) Have you ever played Guitar Hero? Ateast past Guitar hero 5?
